Arkansas Highway 312
Highway 312 (AR 312, Ark. 312, and Hwy. 312) is a designation for three east–west List of Arkansas state highways, state highways in northern Mississippi County, Arkansas. Two highways are rural, two-lane highways connecting agricultural areas around Blytheville, Arkansas, Blytheville. A third route runs in Blytheville as a city street. The highways were established during a ten-year period, beginning in 1963, and have remained unchanged since establishment. Generally the two-digit odd numbered highways run north–south with a few exceptions; and even-numbered two-digit state highways run east–west with a few exceptions. Arkansas has long had a stigma of poor roads, dating from the "Arkansas Roads Scandal" playing a prominent role in state politics through the 1920s and 1930s, periodic allegations of corruption, waste, and fraud, and a long-running struggle to adequately fund the operation, maintenance and expansion of a large highway system serving a rural state. Armorel, Arkansas
Armorel is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Mississippi County, Arkansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 312. It is in a largely rural area with most of its land devoted to forests and farms. Most of the town lies between Arkansas highways 18 and 312. The town was founded in 1899 by lumber magnate and president of Lee Wilson and Company, R.E.L. Wilson as one of his many company holdings. Wilson was an eclectic and colorful figure with vast land holdings in the Delta area after the Civil War. Also a proponent of education, Wilson was one of the original trustees of Arkansas State University, then A & M College. He sat on the board from 1917 until his death in 1933.
