The route of runs from Highway 7 near Lake Hamilton east to Arkansas Highway 171 in Lake Catherine State Park. Route description The route begins at Highway 7 in south Garland County near Lake Hamilton and runs east. The highway serves as a northern terminus for Highway 128 and continues east to give access to boat ramps and docks. After serving the unincorporated community of Red Oak, the route meets another alignment of AR 128. This segment runs north to enter Hot Springs State Park. Hot Springs National Park
Hot Springs National Park is an American national park in central Garland County, Arkansas, adjacent to the city of Hot Springs, the county seat. Hot Springs Reservation was initially created by an act of the United States Congress on April 20, 1832, to be preserved for future recreation. Established before the concept of a national park existed, it was the first time that land had been set aside by the federal government to preserve its use as an area for recreation. Garland County is located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 100,180. The county seat is Hot Springs. Garland County comprises the Hot Springs, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county includes Hot Springs National Park, the only national park in the state of Arkansas as well as the first property to be protected under federal legislation. Highway 7 (AR 7, Ark. 7, Hwy. 7, and partially Scenic 7 Byway) is a north–south state highway that runs across the state of Arkansas. As Arkansas's longest state highway, the route runs from Louisiana Highway 558 at the Louisiana state line north to Bull Shoals Lake at Diamond City near the Missouri state line. With the exception of the segment north of Harrison, Highway 7 has been designated as an Arkansas Scenic Byway and a National Forest Scenic Byway. Lake Hamilton, Arkansas
Lake Hamilton is a census-designated place (CDP) in Garland County, Arkansas, United States. It is part of the Hot Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,135 at the 2010 census. It is named after Lake Hamilton, one of the area's man-made lakes. Geography Lake Hamilton is located in southern Garland County at (34.428101, -93.088035), on the south side of Lake Hamilton, an impoundment on the Ouachita River. The CDP includes two large islands in the lake as well. The community is bordered to the north, across the lake, by the city of Hot Springs. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and , or 49.48%, is water. One route of runs from US Highway 67 (US 67) to Wine Dot Road near an industrial facility. A second route of begins at Highway 84 in Malvern and runs east to Lake Catherine State Park. A third route of begins at US Highway 270 (US 270) and runs north, with state maintenance ending at Tigre Mountain Road.
