Arkansas Highway 185 (AR 185, Ark. 185, and Hwy. 185) is the designation for a state highway in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The route is split into three sections, which are all located in eastern Arkansas. The first section begins at AR 242 and ends at US Highway 49 Business (US 49B) in Helena-West Helena. The second section begins at US 49 near Wycamp, or just west of Helena-West Helena, and ends at AR 242 just north of Helena-West Helena. The third section begins at County Road 215 (CR 215) in Lee County and ends at AR 44 near Marianna. Lee County, Arkansas
Lee County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. With its eastern border formed by the Mississippi River, it is considered to be part of the Arkansas Delta. As of the 2010 census, the population was 10,424. The county seat is Marianna. The county was established on April 17, 1873, during the Reconstruction era. It was named for General Robert E. Lee, who served as General in Chief of the Armies of the Confederate States in 1865. The area of the Delta was developed largely for cotton as a commodity crop before the Civil War, based on the labor of enslaved African Americans. Arkansas Delta
The Arkansas Delta is one of the six natural regions of the state of Arkansas. Willard B. Gatewood Jr., author of ''The Arkansas Delta: Land of Paradox'', says that rich cotton lands of the Arkansas Delta make that area "The Deepest of the Deep South." The region runs along the Mississippi River from Eudora north to Blytheville and as far west as Little Rock. The highway is located in Far Eastern Arkansas and is split into two sections, both of which run close to the Mississippi, St. Francis and L'Anguille rivers. The first and longest section begins at the unincorporated community of Snow Lake in far northern Desha County and ends at AR 20 in Helena-West Helena. Crowley's Ridge
Crowley's Ridge (also Crowleys Ridge) is a geological formation that rises 250 to above the alluvial plain of the Mississippi embayment in a line from southeastern Missouri to the Mississippi River near Helena, Arkansas. It is the most prominent feature in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain between Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the Gulf of Mexico. This narrow rolling hill region rising above the flat plain is the sixth, and smallest, natural division of the state of Arkansas.
