Arkansas Highway 125
Highway 125 (AR 125, Ark. 125, and Hwy. 125) is a north–south state highway in Marion County, Arkansas. The route runs from Arkansas Highway 235 near Bruno north to the Missouri state line across Bull Shoals Lake on Arkansas' only ferry within the state highway system. Route description The route begins at Arkansas Highway 235 near Bruno and runs north past the historic Eros School Building to intersect US 62/US 412 in Pyatt. The routes become concurrent until George's Creek, near the George's Creek Cemetery. Highway 125 winds north through farms and trees until forming a concurrency with Highway 14 near Lakeway. Highway 14 turns west north of Lakeway, with Highway 125 continuing north through Peel. North of Peel, Highway 125 passes the Highway 125 Use Area on Bull Shoals Lake, which features a boat ramp, public marina, playground, and campground. Arkansas State Highway And Transportation Department
The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT), formerly the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, is a government department in the U.S. state of Arkansas. Its mission is to provide a safe, efficient, aesthetically pleasing and environmentally sound intermodal transportation system for the user. The department is responsible for implementing policy made by the Arkansas State Highway Commission, a board of officials appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to direct transportation policy in the state. The department's director is appointed by the commission to hire staff and manage construction and maintenance on Arkansas's highways. The following is a list of state highways in Arkansas. The state does not use a numbering convention. Generally the two-digit odd numbered highways run north–south with a few exceptions; and even-numbered two-digit state highways run east–west with a few exceptions. Arkansas has long had a stigma of poor roads, dating from the "Arkansas Roads Scandal" playing a prominent role in state politics through the 1920s and 1930s, periodic allegations of corruption, waste, and fraud, and a long-running struggle to adequately fund the operation, maintenance and expansion of a large highway system serving a rural state. The state has received the designation of "worst roads in America" from several publications throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s, with Interstate 30 and Interstate 40 often ranking particularly poorly among truckers. Missouri Route 125
Route 125 runs between U.S. Route 65 at Fair Grove and the Arkansas state line, where it continues as Highway 125. After the road crosses into Marion County, Arkansas, the highway crosses Bull Shoals Lake via a free ferry. It is a two-lane road its entire length. Near Chadwick, the highway enters the Mark Twain National Forest and passes through this most of the way to Arkansas. It also overlaps U.S. Route 160 for several miles at Rueter. Highway 14 (AR 14, Ark. 14, and Hwy. 14) is an east–west state highway in Arkansas. The route of begins at Boat Dock Road near Table Rock Lake and runs east to Mississippi County Route W1020 (CR W1020) at Golden Lake. Segments of the highway are part of two Arkansas Scenic Byways: Sylamore Scenic Byway in the Ozark National Forest and the Crowley's Ridge Parkway atop Crowley's Ridge.
