Arkansas Highway 27 (AR 27, Ark. 27, and Hwy. 27) is a designation for two north–south state highways in Arkansas. One route begins at US Highway 59 (US 59) and US 71 near Ben Lomond north to Highway 7 in Dardanelle. A second segment begins at Highway 7 in Dover and runs north to Highway 14 at Harriet. An original Arkansas state highway, Highway 27 was created as one continuous route in 1926, but was split around Russellville in 1961. The designation also includes Highway 27 Business, a business route in Nashville, and Highway 27N, a former alternate route near Ben Lomond deleted in the 1990s. Ben Lomond is a town in Sevier County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 145 at the 2010 census. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.2 km2 (3.9 mi2), all land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 126 people, 58 households, and 40 families residing in the town. The population density was 12.4/km2 (32.0/mi2). There were 74 housing units at an average density of 7.3/km2 (18.8/mi2). The racial makeup of the town was 92.06% White, 1.59% Black or African American, 5.56% Native American, and 0.79% from two or more races. 0.79% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. Arkansas Highway 355
Highway 355 is a north–south highway in southwest Arkansas. The southern terminus of its longest section is at an intersection with U.S. Route 67 in Fulton. Its northern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 278 south of Center Point. Communities along this route include Fulton, McNab, Saratoga, Tollette, and Mineral Springs. A second section of Highway 355 begins at an intersection with Arkansas Highway 174 southwest of Hope and runs southeast, ending at Arkansas Highway 29 at Evening Shade. Rover is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Yell County, Arkansas, United States. Rover is located on Arkansas Highway 28, west-southwest of Plainview. Rover has a post office with ZIP code 72860. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 159. Facilities There is a small automotive/mechanical repair business, a church, and a local city water office. The only store is a small grocery with gasoline and diesel available. Norman is a town in Montgomery County, Arkansas, United States. It was known as Womble until 1925. The population was 303 at the 2020 census, down from 378 in 2010. Geography The community is in southern Montgomery County at the intersection of Arkansas highways 8 and 27. It is south of Mount Ida, the county seat, and northwest of Glenwood. The route of runs from Oklahoma State Highway 63 (SH-63) at the Oklahoma state line east across the state to US Route 65 (US 65) south of Eudora. Glenwood, Arkansas
Glenwood is a city in Pike and Montgomery counties in Arkansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 2,068. The community is located along the Caddo River in the Ouachita Mountains. Glenwood was formed as a boomtown following the development of the Gurdon and Fort Smith Railroad and timber interests in the area. After the establishment of a lumber mill, the community received a post office and incorporated in April 1909. Although the community saw its major employer leave during the Great Depression, the city has again seen rapid growth in recent decades. Murfreesboro, Arkansas
Murfreesboro is a city in, and the county seat of, Pike County, Arkansas, United States. Its population was 1,641 at the 2010 census. The city is known for the Crater of Diamonds State Park located south of the city. History In 1906, diamonds were found on a local farm. It was determined that an 80-acre (32 ha) volcanic formation was the source of the diamonds. The property was eventually sold to the state of Arkansas, which opened the 37-acre Crater of Diamonds State Park to the public. As a tourist attraction a daily fee ($10 in 2021) is charged to search for diamonds. Also located in Murfreesboro is the 1,000-year-old Ka-Do-Ha Indian Village and museum dedicated to it, which offers a field that can be excavated for authentic arrowheads.
