Arizona–Arizona State Baseball Rivalry
The Arizona–Arizona State baseball rivalry is a college baseball rivalry between the University of Arizona Wildcats and the Arizona State University Sun Devils. Both programs are two of the most storied and successful in college baseball history, combining for a total of 9 College World Series championships, 40 College World Series appearances, 82 NCAA tournament appearances and 27 conference regular-season championships. Since Arizona State (then-Tempe Normal School) founded a baseball program in 1907 the teams have met 500 times. Arizona Wildcats Baseball
The Arizona Wildcats baseball team is the intercollegiate men's baseball program representing the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, United States. They compete in the Big 12 Conference (Big 12) of NCAA Division I. Arizona has won four college baseball national championships (1976 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, 1976, 1980 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, 1980, 1986 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, 1986 and 2012 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, 2012), the first three under Jerry Kindall and the most recent under Andy Lopez. The team has appeared in the College World Series Championship Game or Series on four other occasions (1956 NCAA baseball tournament, 1956, 1959 NCAA University Division baseball tournament, 1959, 1963 NCAA University Division baseball tournament, 1963, and 2016 NCAA Division I baseball tournament, 2016).
