Arizona Hotshots
The Arizona Hotshots were a professional American football franchise based in Tempe, Arizona, and one of the eight members of the Alliance of American Football (AAF), which played one season from February 2019 to April 2019. They played their home games at Sun Devil Stadium on the campus of Arizona State University. The Hotshots were one of two AAF teams based in a city that already had an NFL team (the Arizona Cardinals; the other team was the Atlanta Legends, where the NFL's Falcons are based). The Hotshots were coached by former USFL player and college head coach Rick Neuheisel. Scott Brubaker was the team president and Phil Savage was the general manager. On April 2, 2019, the league's football operations were reportedly suspended, and on April 4 the league allowed players to leave their contracts to sign with NFL teams. Sun Devil Stadium
Sun Devil Stadium is an outdoor college football stadium in the southwestern United States, on the campus of Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, Arizona. It is home to the ASU Sun Devils football team of the Pac-12 Conference. Interagency Hotshot Crew
In the United States, a Shot Crew, officially known as an Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC), is a team of 20-22 elite operators which mainly responds to large, high-priority fires across the country and abroad. They are assigned to work the most challenging parts of the fire and are considered strategic and tactical experts. Hotshots are a National Resource and their deployment is tightly controlled at the National Level. Hotshot crews are one of the most highly trained, skilled and experienced type of wild land firefighters. Chris Scelfo
Christopher Joseph Scelfo (born September 30, 1963) is an American football coach. He was most recently the offensive line coach for the DC Defenders of the XFL. He was the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football, having previously served in a similar position with the Houston Cougars and Charlotte 49ers. He previously served as the tight ends coach for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). Charles Arbuckle
Charles Edward Arbuckle (born September 13, 1968) is an American football coach and former professional tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He was recently the tight ends coach for the Arizona Hotshots of the Alliance of American Football (AAF), a position he took in 2019. Jennifer King
Jennifer King (born August 6, 1984) is an American football coach who is the assistant running backs coach for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). King was the first black woman to become a full-time coach in the NFL following her promotion to assistant running backs coach for Washington in 2021. A former two-sport athlete at Guilford College, she has also coached women's college basketball. Andrew Weidinger
Andrew Weidinger (born July 10, 1982) is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the Rhein Fire of the European League of Football (ELF). Weidinger was the head coach for the Barcelona Dragons in 2022, leading the team to an 8–4 record and their first ever playoff appearance. Weidinger was named the 2022 ELF Coach of the Year for his work with the Dragons. Trevor A. Knight (born October 3, 1993) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Oklahoma and Texas A&M. After leading Oklahoma to an 8–5 record in the 2014 season, he lost the starting job in an open quarterback competition to Texas Tech transfer Baker Mayfield prior to the 2015 season. Michael Bercovici (born February 9, 1993) is an American football coach and former quarterback who currently serves as an offensive assistant for the Arizona Cardinals. 2019 AAF QB Draft
The AAF QB Draft was the only draft for the Alliance of American Football (AAF), held in advance of the 2019 season. The draft was a four-round quarterback draft where clubs were allowed to "protect or pick" from the selection. It was held on November 27, 2018, at the HyperX Esports Arena at Luxor Las Vegas and broadcast on the CBS Sports Network. Draft rules The draft lasted four rounds with a preset draft order. The first round included a "pick or protect" method, where if a team elected to protect a player, they selected their player before the teams electing to not protect a player from their region.
