Ariyankuppam River
Ariyankuppam River is a distributary of Sankaraparani River. It branches off Sankaraparani near Thirukanchi. Due to property development, its origin was cut off. Thengaithittu Langoon is found in this river. Arikamedu is the major tourist spot in the river. Ariyankuppam River drains into Bay of Bengal at Puducherry Fishing Harbour. Sankaraparani River
The Sankaraparani River is a river in Tamil Nadu state of southern India. It originates on the western slope of the Gingee Hills in Viluppuram District, and flows southeastwards to empty into the Bay of Bengal south of Pondicherry. The Sankaraparani is also known as Varahanadi or Gingee River. River course It has two sources, one in the Pakkamalai hills and one in the mountains of Melmalayanur. Arikamedu is an archaeological site in Southern India, in Kakkayanthope, Ariyankuppam Commune, Puducherry. Sir Mortimer Wheeler 1945, and Jean-Marie Casal conducted archaeological excavations there in 1947–1950.
