Vaucresson () is a commune in the western suburbs of Paris, France. It is in the Hauts-de-Seine department from the center of Paris. Vaucresson contains abundant parkland; 22 of its 308 hectares are classed as natural zones. Today Vaucresson is principally a wealthy residential community, and has the ninth-highest household income of any commune in France. Samudera Pasai Sultanate
The Samudera Pasai Sultanate (), also known as Samudera or Pasai or Samudera Darussalam or Pacem, was a Muslim harbour kingdom on the north coast of Sumatra from the 13th to the 16th centuries CE. The kingdom was believed to have been founded by Merah Silu, who later converted to Islam and adopted the name Malik ul Salih, in the year 1267 CE. Little evidence has been left to allow for historical study of the kingdom. Etymology Based on the local literature Hikayat Raja-raja Pasai, 'Samudera' can be inferred to have come from the word "Semudera" (), which meant 'a very large ant'. The name was given by Merah Silu when he discovered an ant as large as a cat while hunting at a 'high ground'. Eventually, the place was cleared for the establishment of a new state and 'Semudera' was adopted as its name. Emmanuel Drake del Castillo (28 December 1855 – 14 May 1904) was a French botanist. He was born at Paris and studied with Louis Édouard Bureau (1830–1918) at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (National Museum of Natural History). Between 1886 and 1892, he published ''Illustrationes Florae Insulae Maris Pacifici'' ("Illustrations of the flora of the islands of the Pacific Ocean") a summarization of his work on the flora of French Polynesia. He also studied the flora of Madagascar. In addition, he put together a herbarium which contained more than 500,000 samples. Guillaume Grandidier
Guillaume Grandidier (1 July 1873 – 13 September 1957) was a French geographer, ethnologist, zoologist who studied the island of Madagascar. He was the son of the wealthy industrialist Alfred Grandidier also a zoologist and expert on Madagascar. Guillaume Grandidier was Secretary of the Geographical Society of Paris and a prolific author. The ''Atlas des Colonies Françaises, Protectorats et Territoires sous Mandat de la France'', simply known as the Atlas Grandidier, was published under his direction in 1934. Among his other works was the monumental ''Madagascar L'Histoire politique, physique et naturelle de Madagascar''. This work was undertaken in cooperation with his father and others such as Alphonse Milne-Edwards and Leon Vaillant. This work ran to 40 volumes.
