Arion Music Awards
The Arion Music Awards (Greek : ''Μουσικά Βραβεία Αρίων'') were the Greek music industry's awards program from 2002 to 2007. The organizer was IFPI along with Mega Channel (2002–06) and ANT1 (2007). The awards were named after ancient Greek poet Arion. Other older Greek music awards were the Pop Corn Music Awards and the Thessaloniki Music Festival and newer awards are the MAD Video Music Awards. IFPI Greece
International Federation of the Phonographic Industry Greece, or simply IFPI Greece, is the Greek branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and is the official charts provider and recording sales certification body for Greece. The association compiles and publishes a Top 75 album sales chart. The chart is sponsored by Cyta Hellas. The domestic trade name of IFPI Greece is "Ένωση Ελλήνων Παραγωγών Ηχογραφημάτων" (ΕΕΠΗ) (English: Association of Greek Producers of Phonograms GPP. Despite that, 'IFPI Greece' is the name used to refer to the association and the name it is branded under. Vangelis Vasileiou
Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou ( el, Ευάγγελος Οδυσσέας Παπαθανασίου ; 29 March 1943 – 17 May 2022), known professionally as Vangelis ( ; el, Βαγγέλης, links=no ), was a Greek composer and arranger of electronic, progressive, ambient, and classical orchestral music. He was best known for his Academy Award-winning score to ''Chariots of Fire'' (1981), as well as for composing scores to the films ''Blade Runner'' (1982), ''Missing'' (1982), ''Antarctica'' (1983), '' The Bounty'' (1984), '' 1492: Conquest of Paradise'' (1992), and ''Alexander'' (2004), and for the use of his music in the 1980 PBS documentary series '' Cosmos: A Personal Voyage'' by Carl Sagan. Myrto Kontova
Myrto (; el, Μυρτώ; fl. 5th century BC) was, according to some accounts, a wife of Socrates. Sources The original source for the claim that she was Socrates' wife appears to have been a work by Aristotle called ''On Being Well-Born'',Athenaeus, xiii. 555D–556APlutarch, ''Aristides'', xxvii. 3–4Diogenes Laërtius, ii. 26 although Plutarch expresses doubt that the work is genuine. She was apparently the daughter, or, more probably, the granddaughter of Aristides. A different account of Xanthippe and Myrto is given in Aristoxenus's ''Life of Socrates'' written in the latter part of the fourth century BC that Aristoxenus asserts is based on first-person accounts by his father. Dimitra Galani
Dimitra Galani ( el, Δήμητρα Γαλανή) is a Greek singer and songwriter. Galani was born 1952 in Athens and began her musical career at the age of 16 providing vocals on several tracks of Dimos Moutsis and Nikos Gatsos on the album "A Smile": ( el, Ένα Χαμόγελο). She subsequently contributed to Manos Hatzidakis' 1971 album "Land of Gold" r: 'Της Γης Το Χρυσάφι' providing vocals on six of the twelve tracks included on the album. In that same year, she released her first eponymous solo album. Galani continues to collaborate with notable Greek composers and performers. Nikos Portokaloglou (born 30 December 1957) is a Greek singer, songwriter and lyricist. He started his career in 1980, when he founded the music band Fatme. The first album of the band released in 1982 under the title Fatme. The band had great success and released six albums. Thalassa (; grc-gre, Θάλασσα, Thálassa, sea; Attic Greek: , ''Thálatta'') was the general word for 'sea' and for its divine female personification in Greek mythology. The word may have been of Pre-Greek origin. Michalis Hatzigiannis (Greek: Μιχάλης Χατζηγιάννης; born 5 November 1978) is a Greek-Cypriot singer, musician, and record producer.
