Arif Babayev
Arif Haji oglu Babayev ( az, Arif Hacı oğlu Babayev) was an Azerbaijani film director and Honorary Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR (1964). Biography Arif Babayev was born on September 20, 1928, in Baku. The Babayevs family lived on Qala Street, in Ichari Shahar. Aa a child, Arif attended theatrical circles. His engagement in theatre led him to apply to study in a theatrical school. Until then he played walk-on parts in the plays “Malikmammad”, “Garaja giz” and “Ibrat”. In 1946, the Azerbaijan State Theatrical Institute was created on the basis of the theatrical school. Arif Babayev was admitted into the directing program and was taught by director and actor Mehdi Mammadov. Mehdi Mammadov entrusted Mayor's role from N.V.Gogol’s ''The Government Inspector'' to Arif Babayev. In 1953, Arif Babayev graduated from the institute and was placed to work at the Nakhchivan State Theater. In this theatre, he staged Gogol's play ''Marriage''. Rasul Rza (real name Rasul Ibrahim oghlu Rzayev – az, Rəsul İbrahim oğlu Rzayev) (1910 – 1981 in Baku), was an Azerbaijani writer, Hero of Socialist Labour (1980), People's Poet of Azerbaijan, Laureate of Soviet State Award and the Chairman of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan. He was the husband of Azerbaijani writer Nigar Rafibeyli and the father of writer Anar Rzayev. Life and writings Rasul Rza was born Rasul Ibrahim oglu Rzayev on May 19, 1910 in Goychay (city), Goychay. He studied in Transcaucasus Communist University, Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute and Soviet Cinematography Institute. Rasul Rza was Chairman of Writers' Union of Azerbaijan in 1939, minister of Azerbaijani Cinematography (1945–48), chief editor of the Azerbaijani Soviet Encyclopedia (1966–75), member of board of directors of USSR Union of Writers (from 1964). The Day Passed
''The Day Passed'' ( az, Gün Keçdi) is a 1971 Azerbaijani romantic drama film directed by Arif Babayev. It stars Leyla Shikhlinskaya as Asmar, Hasan Mammadov as Ogtay, and Hasanagha Turabov as Ogtay's colleague. It is an adaptation of the novel "Georgian Surname" by Azerbaijani author Anar Rzayev. Rzayev published the novel in 1967 and later adapted it into a screenplay himself. The film tells the story of two reconciled childhood friends as they reflect on their past, and also encapsulates the atmosphere and soul of Baku at the time. The title refers to the characters' inability to change their past and what has already happened. Upon release, ''The Day Passed'' garnered widespread popularity and critical acclaim in Azerbaijan. Mehdi Huseyn
Mehdi Ali oglu Huseynov – famed under the pseudonym Mehdi Huseyn ( az, Mehdi Hüseyn; 17 April 1909 – 10 March 1965) was an Azerbaijani and Soviet writer and critic, laureate of the State Stalin Prize of the third degree (1950) and member of the All-Union Communist Party since 1941. Education Huseyn was born on April 4, 1909 in İkinci Şıxlı village of Azerbaijan, into a family of a People's teacher. At seven years old he attended a village school, that taught in Russian. In 1920, he entered a pedagogical technical school and the following year went to Komsomol. In 1930, he graduated in history from Azerbaijan University, and in 1936 studied at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Career Huseyn wrote his first "Shearing of sheep" narrative in the last year at the secondary school, and it was published in 1926, in Sharg Gadini magazine ("Woman of the East").
