Ariel Vanguardia (born September 29, 1972) is a Filipino professional basketball coach. He is the interim head coach for the Blackwater Bossing of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Coaching career Vanguardia previously coached the Westports Malaysia Dragons in the Asean Basketball League, where he won the team's first championship in 2016. On May 31, 2016, it was announced that he was appointed to his first PBA head coaching job as coach of the PBA team Phoenix Fuel Masters, replacing Koy Banal Enrico "Koy" Banal, is a Filipino professional basketball head coach. Koy Banal
Enrico "Koy" Banal, is a Filipino professional basketball head coach. Coaching career Prior to his first PBA coaching job, Banal has had extensive head coaching experience in the collegiate and amateur ranks. He called the shots for the PSBA Jaguars in the late 90s with ex-pro Warren Ybanez as his main man. From 2000-2004, he was the head coach of the FEU Tamaraws in the UAAP, bannered by future PBA MVP Arwind Santos, Denok Miranda, Mark Isip, Cesar Catli. He won two championships for FEU from 2003 to 2004 (Due to La Salle's ineligible players which led them to give up the 2004 championship trophy due to the scandal that leaked out the following year and forfeiting all their wins from 2003-2005). 2015–16 PBA Season
The 2015–16 PBA season was the 41st season of the Philippine Basketball Association. The league continued to use the three-conference format, starting with the Philippine Cup. The Commissioner's Cup and the Governors' Cup were the second and third conferences of the season. This season was also the first season of Chito Narvasa as the PBA commissioner when Chito Salud announced his resignation at the end of the 2014–15 season. Salud remained with the PBA as he was the new president and CEO of the league. However, on December 1, 2015, Salud announced his resignation as president and CEO of the PBA that took effect at the end of December 2015, passing both President and CEO positions to Narvasa. The 2003 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Samsung-Invitational Championship, was the second conference of the 2003 PBA season. It started on July 27 and ended on August 23, 2003.
