Ariel Martínez (Cuban Footballer)
Ariel Pedro Martinez González (born 9 May 1986) is a Cuban Football player, footballer. Club career Following his List of Cuban football players who have defected to the United States, defection from Cuba to the United States in July 2015, Martínez signed with United Soccer League club Charleston Battery, but was not cleared to play until late in the season due to issues with the processing of his documentation and work permit. Martínez made his only appearance for Charleston in a playoff loss to Louisville City before leaving the club at the end of 2015. In March 2016, Martínez signed for North American Soccer League (2011–2017), North American Soccer League side Miami FC ahead of its inaugural season. Martínez made the move to USL Championship side FC Tulsa on 18 December 2019. 2017 Miami FC Season
The 2017 Miami FC season was the club's second season of existence, and second season playing in the North American Soccer League. During the season Miami won both the Spring and Fall NASL season, qualifying for the end of season playoffs where they would go out on penalties to the New York Cosmos in the Semifinals. In the U.S. Open Cup, Miami reached the Quarterfinals before losing to USL side FC Cincinnati 0-1 in a game that had to be re-arranged due to bad weather. The 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the 13th edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition and the 23rd CONCACAF regional championship overall in the organization's fifty-four years of existence. It was held in the United States, with two matches being played in Canada, marking the first time the CONCACAF Gold Cup was played in that country. Mexico won the competition after surviving both the quarter-finals and semi-finals in controversial circumstances, defeating Jamaica – the first Caribbean nation to reach such a stage – in the final.
