Ariana Afghanistan International TV (Dari/Pashto: آریانا افغانستان تلویزیون) is a satellite television channel based in Irvine, California, United States, with branches in Hamburg and Kabul. It is founded and owned by Nabil Miskinyar. It currently broadcasts on the satellite Galaxy 19 97°W to North America, and TürkmenÄlem 52°E / MonacoSAT for Europe, Western and Central Asia. The station originated in 1989. On 1 July 2006 it initiated 24 hour broadcasting worldwide on satellite. From its launch till 2009, it was based in Orange, California. Programming broadcasts in Persian and Pashto, as well as English. News is provided by Voice of America. Stance Ariana Afghanistan's official stance is said to be "dedicated to promote democracy and respect for human rights" in Afghanistan. Nabil Miskinyar ( fa, نبيل مسكين‌يار, born 26 September 1948) is an Afghan TV host who owns a TV channel in the United States called Ariana Afghanistan TV since 1989. His office is based out of Orange, California and has offices in San Francisco, Dubai and Hamburg (male), (female) en, Hamburger(s), Hamburgian(s) , timezone1 = Central (CET) , utc_offset1 = +1 , timezone1_DST = Central (CEST) , utc_offset1_DST = +2 , postal .... On September 11, 2011, Miskinyar was attending a business meeting when he was abducted and held at gunpoint for approximately seven hours. He posted a media statement later in the week detailing how he was "interviewed" in a propaganda video and forced to denounce his work and political beliefs. Galaxy 19 is a communications satellite owned by Intelsat located at 97° West longitude, serving the North American market.
