José Argüelles
José Argüelles (; born Joseph Anthony Argüelles; January 24, 1939 – March 23, 2011) was an American New Age author and artist. He was the co-founder, along with Lloydine Argüelles, of the Planet Art Network and the Foundation for the Law of Time. As one of the originators of the Earth Day concept, Argüelles founded the first Whole Earth Festival in 1970, at Davis, California. He is best known for his leading role in organizing the 1987 Harmonic Convergence, for inventing (with the assistance of his wife Lloydine) the perpetual Dreamspell calendar in 1990, and for the central role that he played in the emergence of the 2012 phenomenon. Towards the end of his life, Argüelles focused on issue of consciousness, elaborating the concept of a noosphere (based on the work of Teilhard de Chardin and Vladimir Vernadsky) as a global work of art. Ivan Argüelles
Ivan Argüelles (born January 24, 1939) is an American poet whose work moves from early Beat- and surrealist-influenced forms to later epic-length poems. He received the Poetry Society of America's William Carlos Williams Award in 1989 as well as the Before Columbus Foundation's American Book Award in 2010. He is the twin brother of the New Age writer José Argüelles and the father of the linguist Alexander Argüelles. Alexander Sabino Argüelles (often spelled Arguelles; born 30 April 1964) is an American linguist notable for his work on Korean. He is highly committed to the learning of foreign languages, and was profiled in Michael Erard's ''Babel No More''. He is one of the polyglots listed in Kenneth Hyltenstam's ''Advanced Proficiency and Exceptional Ability in Second Languages'', and has been described by ''The New Yorker'' as "a legendary figure in the olyglotcommunity". Bartolomé de Argüelles (? - ?) was the lieutenant treasurer, royal accountant and co-interim governor of La Florida (1595–1597) with Alonso de las Alas and Juan Menéndez Márquez. He served as lieutenant treasurer during the administration of governor Pedro Menéndez de Márquez (1577-1594). Julian Argüelles (born 28 January 1966) is an English jazz saxophonist. Coming to prominence in the 1980s and '90s with the ensemble Loose Tubes, Argüelles has worked extensively as a solo performer and with American and European musicians. His music combines British contemporary jazz infused with Spanish rhythms, South African grooves, brass band and classical influences. He was awarded a fellowship from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire for his services to jazz in 2017 and received a Parliamentary Jazz Award (2016) for his album ''Let It Be Told''. Agustín Argüelles (18 August 1776 in Ribadesella, Asturias – 26 March 1844 in Madrid) was a Spanish liberal politician. He served as the 81st and 94th president of the Congress of Deputies. Biography He studied Law at the University of Oviedo and worked as secretary of the bishop of Barcelona. Martín de Argüelles Jr. (1566–1630) was the first white child known to have been born in what is now the United States. His birthplace of St. Augustine, Florida (''San Agustín, La Florida'') is the oldest continuously occupied, European-founded city in the United States. Stephen Argüelles Clarke (born 16 November 1963) is an English jazz drummer, producer and is the proprietor of the Plush record label. He has also worked in film and theatre. Fulgencio Argüelles (born January 6, 1955), is a Spanish writer and psychologist. Life Born in 1955 in the Orillés neighborhood of Aller, Asturias, Argüelles studied psychology at the Comillas Pontifical University and the Complutense University of Madrid, specializing in sociology of work and organizations. Ramón Cabrera Argüelles, D.D., S.T.L. (born November 12, 1944) is a Filipino cleric who served as Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Lipa in the province of Batangas on the island of Luzon, Philippines from 2004 to 2017. Prior to his appointment as archbishop, he was an auxiliary bishop of the same diocese, appointed to that position on November 26, 1993. Noel Argüelles (; born January 12, 1990) is a Cuban former professional baseball pitcher. With shortstop José Iglesias, Argüelles defected from the Cuban junior national team while in Canada. Argüelles signed a major-league contract with the Kansas City Royals in December 2009. After he signed, Argüelles developed shoulder pain that prevented him from pitching in 2010 and necessitated shoulder surgery in August 2010. He debuted in the Royals organization for the Class A Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2011. After struggling with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Double-A Texas League in 2013, the Royals outrighted Argüelles off of their 40-man roster.
