Argentine Chess Federation
The Argentine Chess Federation ( es, Federación Argentina de Ajedrez, link=no – ''FADA'') is the national organisation for chess in Argentina. It is affiliated with the World Chess Federation. Its headquarters are in Buenos Aires. The Argentine Chess Federation organizes an Argentine Chess Championship (''Campeonato de Argentina de Ajedrez''). It was founded in 1928. Chess
Chess is a board game for two players, called White and Black, each controlling an army of chess pieces in their color, with the objective to checkmate the opponent's king. A president is a leader of an organization, company, community, club, trade union, university or other group. Mario Petrucci (chess Player)
Mario Petrucci (born 1958) is a British-Italian poet, literary translator, educator and broadcaster. He was born in Lambeth, London and trained as a physicist at Selwyn College in the University of Cambridge, later completing a PhD in vacuum crystal growth at University College London. He is also an ecologist, having a BA in Environmental Science from Middlesex University. Petrucci was the first poet to be resident at the Imperial War Museum and with BBC Radio 3. He has broadcast extensively on radio, including the BBC’s ''Kaleidoscope (UK radio series), Kaleidoscope'', ''London Nights'', ''Sunday Feature'', ''Night Waves'', ''The Verb'' and ''BBC World Service'', as well as on BBC TV. Hermann Pilnik (8 January 1914, Stuttgart, Germany – 12 November 1981, Caracas, Venezuela) was a German Argentine chess Grandmaster. Career In 1929, he won the championship of Stuttgart. Pilnik emigrated from Germany to Argentina in 1930. He won the Argentine Championships in 1942, 1945 and 1958. Pilnik began his international career in 1942, when he tied for 10-11th in New York, and tied for 2nd-3rd in Mar del Plata. In 1944, he tied for 1st with Miguel Najdorf in Mar del Plata. Augusto De Muro
Augusto de Muro (? – 1959) was an Argentine chess player and organizer. He was the president of the Argentine Chess Federation and the head of the Organizing Committee for the 8th Chess Olympiad which took place at Buenos Aires from August 21 to September 19, 1939.
