Argen
The Argen is a river in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It flows into Lake Constance between Kressbronn am Bodensee and Langenargen as the third largest tributary to the lake. It is long; if one includes the Obere Argen and its source river Seelesgraben, the combined length is . Course The headwaters of the Argen arise in the Allgäu. There are two headwaters: the Obere Argen and the Untere Argen. The two arms wrap around the Große Kreisstadt of Wangen im Allgäu and meet each other in the Neuravensburg district of Wangen im Allgäu. Untere Argen The origin of the Untere Argen is the confluence of Börlasbach and Stixnerbach at the western entrance to Missen at about above sea level in the Allgäu region of Bavaria. From the confluence, it first flows north to Isny im Allgäu, then northwest to Waltershofen, then southwest to Primisweiler. Past Primisweiler, it merges with the Obere Argen. Obere Argen
The Obere Argen ("Upper Argen") is a river in southwestern Bavaria and southeastern Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Northwest of Oberstaufen in the Swabia (Bavaria), Bavarian-Swabian county of Oberallgäu, the ''Seelesgraben'', the ''Moosmühlbach'' and the ''Schwarzenbach'' streams converge forming the Obere Argen. From this confluence the river flows through the , a gorge which is passable on foot within the eponymous and past the Grünenbach heading for Wangen im Allgäu. Near Gestratz the Obere Argen collects the waters of the Röthenbach coming from the left and forms the Bavarian-Württemberg state border as far as Wangen. North of the Wangen district of Neuravensburg the Obere Argen unites with the Untere Argen ("Lower Argen") to form the Argen, which then discharges into Lake Constance between Kressbronn am Bodensee, Kressbronn and Langenargen after about 23 kilometres. Untere Argen is a river of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, Germany. Its source is near the village Börlas in southwestern Bavaria. It passes along Isny im Allgäu and Wangen im Allgäu. Wangen im Allgäu ( Low Alemannic: ''Wãnge'') is a historic city in southeast Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It lies north-east of Lake Constance in the Westallgäu. It is the second-largest city (Population: 26,927 in 2020) in the Ravensburg district and is a nexus for the surrounding communities. From 1938 to 1972, Wangen was the county seat of the Wangen rural district. Geography Wangen in Allgäu lies on the north bank of the Obere Argen. is a motorway in southern Germany, leading from the Austrian border ( A14) near Lindau (Lake Constance) through Memmingen, Landsberg am Lech to Munich. Lake Constance (german: Bodensee, ) refers to three Body of water, bodies of water on the Rhine at the northern foot of the Alps: Upper Lake Constance (''Obersee''), Lower Lake Constance (''Untersee''), and a connecting stretch of the Rhine, called the Seerhein, Lake Rhine (''Seerhein''). Ravensburg (district)
Ravensburg is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the southeast of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from southwest clockwise) Bodensee, Sigmaringen and Biberach, the Bavarian urban district Memmingen and the districts Unterallgäu, Oberallgäu and Lindau. History The district dates back to the ''Oberamt Ravensburg'', which was created in 1810 when the previously free imperial city Ravensburg and the surrounding area became part of Württemberg. In 1938 the Oberamt was converted into a district and most of the ''Oberamt Waldsee'' was merged into the new district. In 1973 the district Wangen was merged into the district, together with a few municipalities from the district Saulgau, Überlingen and Biberach. Grünenbach is a municipality in the district of Lindau in Bavaria in Germany. Geography Grünenbach is located in the Allgäu region. It consists of the following districts: Ebratshofen, Grünenbach. History Before 1800 Grünenbach had been seat of a higher and lower court and belonged to Austria as a part of the Bregenz-Hohenegg authority, before becoming part of Bavaria. Since the signing of the peace treaties of Brünn and Preßburg in 1805 the town belongs to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria the contemporary municipality was formed by the ''"Gemeindeedikt"'' of 1818.
