Arens De Lledó
Arens de Lledó () or Arenys de Lledó () is a municipality located in the Matarraña/Matarranya comarca, province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2008 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 217 inhabitants, and covers an area of 34.27 square kilometres. It is situated in the Franja de Ponent. Municipality Arens de Lledo is very near neighbours with Horta de San Juan, Catalunya on one side (known for its entrance to the Natural Park El Ports and that it is said that Picasso invented cubism after staying there), and also the cultural capital of Matarraña Calaceite, (Aragon) an old favourite for visiting artists from all round the world. The village of Arens de Lledó is located in the most eastern part of the province of Teruel. It is in a hilly area by the river Algars, which marks the border between the Terra Alta (Catalonia) and Aragon. The Battle of the Ebro ( es, Batalla del Ebro, ca, Batalla de l'Ebre) was the longest and largest battle of the Spanish Civil War and the greatest, in terms of manpower, logistics and material ever fought on Spanish soil. It took place between July and November 1938, with fighting mainly concentrated in two areas on the lower course of the Ebro River, the Terra Alta comarca of Catalonia, and the Auts area close to Fayón ''(Faió)'' in the lower Matarranya, Eastern Lower Aragon. Gandesa
Gandesa () is the capital of the ''comarca'' of Terra Alta, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. History In the place known as ''Coll del Moro'' there is an ancient Iberian archaeological site belonging to the Ilercavones tribe that lived in this area before Roman times. Gandesa has a church with unusual and interesting sculptures on the Romanesque porch. The old winery of Gandesa, also known in Catalonia as one of the Wine Cathedrals, is from Modernisme and Noucentisme style and was designed by the architect Cèsar Martinell in 1919. Gandesa was at the center of fighting during the Battle of the Ebro in the Spanish Civil War. Calaceite
Calaceite () or Calaceit () is a municipality located in the Matarraña comarca, in the province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 1,145 inhabitants. There are many ancient buildings of great architectural value in the town, as well as the ruins of an ancient Iberian village at Sant Antoni. This town is part of the Catalan-speaking area of Aragon. Demographics Calaceite has 1,132 inhabitants (INE 2008). Gastronomy The flaonets de Calaceit (''flaonets'', ca, little flaons) are small flaons made in Calaceite. They are small pastries filled with pumpkin jam and honey.
