Arena Gripe
Gripe Sports Center ( hr, Športski centar Gripe) is a sports complex located in the Gripe city district of Split, Croatia. It features four indoor halls, and is used to host many sports, as well as concerts. The seating capacity of the small indoor hall is 3,500, and of the biggest one is 6,000. History The sports complex was built in the late 1970s, for the 1979 Mediterranean Games. The sports complex has been used as the home venues of the KK Split basketball team, and the MNK Split Tommy futsal team. Živorad Janković
Živorad "Žika" Janković (1924–1990) was a Yugoslav and Serbian architect. Biography Janković was born to ethnic Serbian family on August 19, 1924 in Višegrad, Yugoslavia. He finished his higher education in Sarajevo, and got a degree in architecture in Belgrade in 1950. From 1950 till 1952 he was a lecturer at the Faculty of Technology, University of Sarajevo. Košarkaški klub Split ( en, Split Basketball Club), commonly referred to as KK Split or simply Split, is a men's professional basketball club based in Split, Croatia. The club competes in the ABA League and the Croatian League. History The club's roots are found in Hajduk sports society's basketball section, which was established in 1945. After three years of mostly sporadic activity, in 1948, the club established its own organizational structure known as KK Hajduk, which was independent of sports society. 1979 Mediterranean Games
The 1979 Mediterranean Games, officially known as the VIII Mediterranean Games, and commonly known as Split 1979, were the 8th Mediterranean Games. The Games were held in Split, Yugoslavia, from 15 to 29 September 1979, where 2,408 athletes (2,009 men and 399 women) from 14 countries participated. There were a total of 192 medal events from 26 different sports. The games' mascot was a Mediterranean monk seal named Adrijana.
