Abeba Aregawi
Abeba Aregawi Gebretsadik ( Amharic: አበባ አረጋዊ ;born 5 July 1990) is an Ethiopian-Swedish retired middle-distance runner who specialised in the 1500 metres. She won the bronze medal in the 1500 m at the 2012 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the World Championships in 2013. She represented both Ethiopia and Sweden internationally. Biography Aregawi was born in Adigrat, Ethiopia in the Tigray Region. She represented Ethiopia internationally until December 2012, after she became a naturalized Swedish citizen. She represented the Stockholm-based club Hammarby IF to January 2016. Aregawi was married to an Ethiopian man with Swedish citizenship and lived in Stockholm from 2009 to 2012. She is now remarried to Yemane Tsegay and lives in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Abuna Aregawi
Abuna Aregawi (also called Za-Mika'el Aragawi) was a sixth-century Syrian monk and canonized by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, as well as by the Ethiopian Catholic Church, as well as the Eritrean Orthodox Church. Amare Aregawi () is an Ethiopian journalist and the founder of Media & Communications Center, which publishes The Reporter (Ethiopia), an Amharic and English newspaper headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is the editor-in-chief of the bilingual newspaper and co-owner of the Ethiopian TV network ARTS TV. Journalism career Aregawi was previously in charge of Ethiopia's only public television network, EBC (formerly ETV) following the fall of the Derg dictatorship in 1991. In 2008 he was arrested in connection with an article about labor practices that criticized Dashen Brewery, a local beer brand. The brewery filed a defamation suit against the newspaper which led to the arrest of Aregawi on 22 August 2008. He was released shortly thereafter on bail. Sebhat Aregawi (died 28 February 1914) was a ''Ras'' of Agame. He was appointed governor of Agame by Emperor Tewodros II in 1859, and his province was expanded by Emperor Yohannes IV to include Adigrat. Emperor Menelik II invested Sebhat with the title of ''Ras'' in 1892. Biography ''Ras'' Sebhat was the son of ''Dejazmatch'' Aregawi Sabagadis of Agame, and grandson of the popular governor of Tigray, ''Ras'' Sabagadis Woldu. At the time he challenged ''Ras'' Mangesha Yohannes, who had succeeded his slain father Yohannes IV and was asserting his supremacy in Tigray, Sebhat was described as "a clever and intelligent man in his early forties, an excellent administrator but not a distinguished warrior."
