Area (Beijing)
Area () is a type of township-level divisions of China that is only used within Beijing. It is an intermediate designation between the rural township or town and the more urban subdistrict, and is given to settlements resembling desakotas. Usually, each area within Beijing will also carry its previous respective designation as a town or township, and the town/township government will take additional role as the area office (). Such a system is referred to as "One agency, two nameplates" (). For the most part, the area and town/township will share the same place name, such as Nanmofang and Liangxiang. However, there are also exceptions, such as the town name of Wanliu Area being Haidian. Administrative Divisions Of China
The administrative divisions of China have consisted of several levels since ancient times, due to China's large population and geographical area. The constitution of China provides for three levels of government. However in practice, there are five levels of local government; the provincial (province, autonomous region, municipality, and special administrative region), prefecture, county, township, and village. Since the 17th century, provincial boundaries in China have remained largely static. Major changes since then have been the reorganisation of provinces in the northeast after the establishment of the People's Republic of China and the formation of autonomous regions, based on Soviet ethnic policies. The provinces serve an important cultural role in China, as people tend to identify with their native province. Shibalidian Township
Shibalidian Area () is an area and township on the southwest of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It borders Fatou and Panjiayuan Subdistricts as well as Nanmofang and Yusiying Townships to the north, Dougezhuang Township and Taihu Town to the east, Yizhuang Township and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area to the south, Xiaohongmen, Nanyuan and Fangzhuang Townships to the west. As of the year 2020, it has a total population of 178,177. The subdistrict got its name Shibalidian () due to its 18 Chinese miles distance from Zhengyangmen, a city gate on the former Beijing city wall. Wangsiying
Wangsiying Area () is an area and township located on the southern part of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It borders Gaobeidian Township to the north, Dougezhuang to the east, Fatou Subdistrict and Shibalidian Township Shibalidian Area () is an area and township on the southwest of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. Dougezhuang Area () is an area and township located on the southern part of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It borders Gaobeidian and Sanjianfang Townships to the north, Guanzhuang and Heizhuanghu Townships to the east, Taihu Town to the south, Fatou Subdistrict, Wangsiying and Shibalidian Townships to the west. It has a population of 53,766 as of 2020. The name of this area, Dougezhuang () was historically the residence of Dou () family, and later got corrupted to the name used today. Heizhuanghu Area () is an area and township on the southeastern corner Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It borders Guanzhuang Township and Beiyuan Subdistrict to the north, Liyuan Town to the east, Taihu Town to the south, Dougezhuang Township to the west. According to the 2020 census, the population of Heizhuanghu township was 49,983. The name of Heizhuanghu () originates from the end of Ming dynasty, when the originally settlers of this region lived in half-underground shacks. Dongba Township
Dongba Area () is an area and township within Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It is at the banks of Ba River, between the 5th and 6th Ring Roads of Beijing. It borders Cuigezhuang Township to the north, Jinzhan Township to the east, Pingfang and Changying Townships to the south, Dongfeng and Jiangtai Townships to the west. According to the 2020 Chinese census, the area had 124,163 inhabitants. The name of the area Dongba () refers to a dam that used to be in the region. It was one of the seven dams constructed during Yuan dynasty. Cuigezhuang Area () is an area and township located in northern Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It is at the south of Sunhe Township, west of Dongba and Jinzhan Townships, north of Jiuxianqiao Subdistrict and Jiangtai Township, east of Wangjing, Donghu Subdistrict and Laiguangying Township. Sunhe Area () is an area and township located in the northwest of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It borders Konggang Subdistrict and Houshayu Township to the north, Tianzhu Township to the east, Cuigezhuang and Jinzhan Townships to the south, Laiguangying Township and Beiqijia Town to the west. Jinzhan Area () is an area and township situated at northeastern corner of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. Changying Area () is an area and Hui ethnic township located on the eastern portion of Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. It borders Dongba and Jinzhan Townships to the north, Yongshun Town to the east, Guanzhuang and Sanjianfang Townships to the south, and Pingfang Township to the west.
