Ardeshir Mohasses
Ardeshir Mohassess (also spelt Ardashir Mohasess, fa, اردشير محصص , 9 September 1938 in Lahijan – 9 October 2008 in New York) was an Iranian illustrator, satirist, cartoonist and painter, residing in New York. Biography He was born in Rasht and was brought up in Lahijan. His parents were from well-to-do, professional families of Lahijan. Lahijan
Lahijan ( fa, لاهیجان, Lāhijān, also known as, Lāyjon in Gilaki) is a city near the Caspian Sea and the capital of Lahijan County, Gilan Province, Iran. According to the 2016 census, its population was 167,544 in 58,378 families. Lahijan has a mix of traditional and modern architecture. The city, which has an Iranian-European urban structure, lies on the northern slope of the Alborz Mountains. Its culture and favourable climatic condition have made Lahijan a major tourist hub in northern Iran. The city is basically founded on the sediments remaining from big rivers in Gilan, including the Sepid/Sefid-Rud (White River). Bahman Mohasses
Bahman Mohassess ( fa, بهمن محصص, March 1, 1931 – July 28, 2010) was an Iranian painter, sculptor, translator, and theatre director. His oeuvre comprises paintings, sculptures and collages. Known as "the irreverent" artist, Mohasses is said to have destroyed many of his own works, and those that become available at auction are now highly sought after. Mohassess is the most prominent artist who was openly gay in Iran, which is still stigmatized. He was the subject of the Mitra Farahani film documentary, ''Fifi Howls from Happiness'' (2013). Early life Bahman Mohasses was born in 1931 in Rasht, Iran. The Mohasses house consisted of approximately 15 families who were land owners of Lahijan and were in the trade of tea and silk and lived in the Pordsar neighborhood of Lahijan.
