Ardeshir or Ardashir (Persian: اردشیر; also spelled as Ardasher) is a Persian name popular in Iran and other Persian-speaking countries. Ardashir is the New Persian form of the Middle Persian name , which is ultimately from Old Iranian ''*Artaxšaθra-'', equivalent to Greek ''Artaxérxēs'' (), and Armenian ''Artašēs'' (). Literally, Ardashir means "the one whose reign is based on honesty and justice". The first part of ''*Artaxšaθra-'' is adapted from the religious concept of justice known as Ṛta or Asha and the second part is related to the concept "city". Persian (), also known by its endonym Farsi (, ', ), is a Western Iranian language belonging to the Iranian branch of the Indo-Iranian subdivision of the Indo-European languages. Name ''Ardashir'' is the Middle Persian form of the Old Persian ''Ṛtaxšira'' (also spelled ''Artaxšaçā'', meaning "whose reign is through truth"). The Latin variant of the name is '. Ardeshir Kamkar
Ardeshir Kamkar ( fa, اردشیر کامکار , born 1962 in Sanandaj, Iran) is a Kurdish musician from Iran. He started his music training under the supervision of his father. He came to Tehran in 1980 and continued studying traditional arrangements under Mohammad Reza Lotfi and his brother Pashang. Ardeshir has always been keen to explore the range and capabilities of the kamancheh, for which he has written a number of pieces and books. Kamkar has played with several famous ensembles such as, Dastan, Aref and Sheyda. In the album of ''Dastan'' (1364 Iranian calendar) he accompanied the improvisation of M. R. Shajarian. He has recently worked with the talented vocalist, Homayoun Shajarian. He has also international collaboration. Ardeshir Hosseinpour
Ardeshir Hosseinpour ( fa, اردشير حسين پور, 1962 – 15 January 2007) was an Iranian nuclear scientist, physics professor, and electromagnetism expert who was involved in the Iranian nuclear program. He died mysteriously in early 2007 during his nuclear work at Isfahan. Education and career Hosseinpour held a B.S. degree in electrical engineering and a MSc degree in Nuclear Physics from Shiraz University in 2002. He was a professor at Shiraz University, and also taught at the Malek Ashtar University of Technology in Isfahan. In 2005, he co-founded(requires premium subscription) the Nuclear Technology Center of Isfahan, where he continued his research until his death on 15 January 2007. Ardeshir Zahedi, GCVO ( fa, اردشیر زاهدی; 16 October 1928 – 18 November 2021) was an Iranian politician and diplomat who served as the country's foreign minister from 1966 to 1971, and its ambassador to the United States and the United Kingdom during the 1960s and 1970s. Early life Born in Tehran on 16 October 1928, he was the son of General Fazlollah Zahedi, who served as prime minister after participating in the CIA-led coup which led to the fall of Mohammed Mossadegh, and wife Khadijeh Pirnia. Zahedi received a degree in agriculture from Utah State University in 1950, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma. Ardeshir Cowasjee (13 April 1926 – 24 November 2012) ( ur, ) was a Pakistani newspaper columnist, social activist, and philanthropist. Belonging from Karachi, his columns regularly appeared in the country's oldest English newspaper, ''Dawn''. He was also the Chairman of the Cowasjee Group and was engaged in philanthropic activities in addition to being regarded as an old "guardian" of the city of Karachi. Ardeshir Tarapore
Lieutenant Colonel Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore, PVC (18August 1923 – 16September 1965), was an officer in the Indian Army and a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest award for bravery. After completing his schooling in Pune, Tarapore joined the Hyderabad Army, and was commissioned in January 1942. Initially he joined the infantry, but was later transferred to an armoured regiment, the 1st Hyderabad Imperial Service Lancers. During World War II Tarapore saw action in the Middle East. After Hyderabad State was annexed by India in 1948, Tarapore was selected to join the Indian Army. He was commissioned again in April 1951, and was posted to the Poona Horse regiment, 17th Battalion. Later he attended a training course in the United Kingdom on the Centurion tank. During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, 17 Horse saw action in the Sialkot sector. Khan Bahadur Ardeshir Irani (5 December 1886 – 14 October 1969) was a writer, director, producer, actor, film distributor, film showman and cinematographer in the silent and sound eras of early Indian cinema. Ardeshir Godrej
Ardeshir Burjorji Sorabji Godrej (1868–1936) was an Indian businessman. With his brother Pirojsha Burjorji, he co-founded the Godrej Brothers Company, the precursor of the modern Godrej Group. Early years Ardeshir was born in 1868 as the first of six children to Burjorji and Dosibai Gootherajee. The Gootherajee's were a wealthy Parsi-Zoroastrian family of Bombay (now Mumbai), and Ardeshir's father Burjorji and grandfather Sorabji dealt in real estate. In January 1871, his father had the family name changed to Godrej. In 1890, Ardeshir married Bachu (Bachubai), who had just turned eighteen. On 25 April 1891, Bachubai and Ardeshir's second cousin Pirojbai Sohrabji Kamdin decided to climb to the viewing platform of the 85-meter high Rajabai Tower.
