Ben Frost (born 1980) is an Australian-Icelandic musician, composer, record producer, sound designer, and director. Life Born in Melbourne, Australia, and based in Reykjavík, Iceland, since 2005, Frost composes minimalist, instrumental, and experimental music, with influences ranging from classical minimalism to punk rock and black metal. His early releases include the guitar-oriented albums ''Steel Wound'' (2003) and ''School of Emotional Engineering'' (as part of the band School of Emotional Engineering) (2004). ''Theory of Machines'' (2007) marked a radical shift toward more angular aggressive music and was further advanced on the critically acclaimed '' By The Throat'' (2009). Spod are an Australian indie, electro band, often styled as SPOD, which formed in 1995. It is also the pseudonym of the band's mainstay member, Brent Griffin, whether he is performing solo or with other members. They have released two albums, ''Taste the Radness'' (2003) and ''Superfrenz'' (September 2008). History Spod were formed in Sydney as an indie, electro duo, first named Jizm, by Brent Griffin (later a.k.a. Spod) on guitar and keyboards, and Mike Rickards. They had attended the same secondary school. Griffin was a public servant in the New South Wales' Premier's Department and Rickards was a university student and sportsman. Sounds Like Sunset are a band based in Sydney. The group formed in 1997 and as of 2019 have released 3 albums, ''Saturdays'' in 2001, ''Invisible'' in 2005 and ''We Could Leave Tonight'' in 2014 as well as various other releases on cassettes, 7-inch and compilations. ''We Could Leave Tonight'' was released on vinyl 22 July 2014 through Tym Records, and on CD and digitally on 22 August 2014 through Simon Tahiti Records. Early days The band formed initially as a side-project with David Challinor (guitar), David Hobson (bass) and Rohan Geddes (drums) in a recently vacated room in Challinor's moldy and more or less condemned share house in Pennant Hills in Sydney's north west in August 1997. So Many Dynamos was a rock band from St. Louis, Missouri. Their music wa generally classified as indie rock, combining aspects of electropop, math rock, and dance-punk. They took their name from a famous palindrome. History The band's first recording, a five-song EP entitled ''Are We Not Drawn Onward to New Era?'', was released by now-defunct St. Louis label Ambivalent Records in 2003. The album was recorded by John John (John Katsafanas) at Red Light Studios in St. Louis. Like the band's name, the title of the EP is also a palindrome. So Many Dynamos recorded their first full-length, ''When I Explode'', in February 2004 at Semaphore Studios in Chicago, Illinois. The album was recorded onto 2" tape by Jeremy Lemos and was mixed on 1/2" tape by former Dismemberment Plan member Jason Caddell at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia. Pedro the Lion is an American indie rock band from Seattle, Washington, United States. David Bazan formed the band in 1995 and represented its main creative force, backed by a varying rotation of collaborating musicians. In 2006 Pedro the Lion was dissolved as Bazan went solo; Bazan reformed the band and resumed performing under the Pedro the Lion moniker in late 2017. Releasing five full-length albums and five EPs over 11 years, the band is known for its first person narrative lyrics with political and religious themes. Belles Will Ring
Belles Will Ring are an Australian alternative-rock band based in Sydney. It consists of founding members and songwriters Liam Judson and Aidan Roberts; alongside multi-instrumentalist Lauren Crew and drummer Joe Driver. The band came to prominence when they released their debut album Mood Patterns in 2007 to critical acclaim. The band formed in 2005 following the split of The Architects, a band which primary-school friends, Judson and Roberts, had been playing in since 2000. Following the split, Judson began recording his own material with Roberts and drummer Ivan Lisyak, and named the new band Belles Will Ring. The band has undergone a number of line-up changes since its inception, with Judson and Roberts remaining constant as the band's songwriters.
