Archibald William Wilson (25 April 1888 – 7 July 1961) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of James Watson Wilson (1859-1939), and Mary Young Wilson (1855-1927), née Forsyth, Archibald William Wilson was born at Tatura, Victoria on 25 April 1888. He married Elsie Jane Clydesdale (1890-1973) on 20 February 1915. Tatura
Tatura is a town in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia, and is situated within the City of Greater Shepparton local government area, north of the state capital (Melbourne) and west of the regional centre of Shepparton. At the 2016 census, Tatura had a population of 4,669. During World War II, several internment camps were set up around Tatura by the Australian government. Four of these were for "enemy alien" civilians, and three were for prisoners of war. Between 1940 and 1947, there were 10,000 to 13,000 people in the internment camps at different times. With a large corporate and manufacturing presence within the town, Tatura is a major employer within the Goulburn Valley. Mooroopna
Mooroopna is a rural town located north of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is on the banks of the Goulburn River opposite the larger town of Shepparton. The Midland Highway crosses the river between the two towns. At the 2016 census, Mooroopna had a population of 7,942. History The name Mooroopna was used by the original Kaieltheban tribe living in the area and meant 'deep water hole'. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Arthur Ford (Australian Footballer)
Arthur 'Shooter' Ford (12 June 1881 – 14 May 1953) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A defender, Ford make his league debut in 1903 but after just one season, left Carlton for Western Australia. The Essendon Town recruit played initially at West Perth, where he was a member of their 1905 West Australian Football League premiership team, before spending some time at Boulder City in the Goldfields Football Association. Ford returned to Carlton towards the end of the 1908 season and played in that year's premiership side, the third in a row for the club. He was also a half back flanker in the 1909 VFL Grand Final, which Carlton lost. The 1910 VFL season was the 14th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured ten clubs, ran from 30 April until 1 October, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs.
