Archie Goldie
Archibald Goldie (5 January 1874 – 7 April 1953) was a Scottish footballer who played as a right back for Liverpool, New Brighton Tower and Small Heath in the Football League in the 1890s and 1900s. Life and playing career Born in Hurlford, Ayrshire, Scotland, Goldie played for Clyde before being signed by Liverpool manager John McKenna in June 1895. Goldie, a full-back, was added to the squad that had been relegated to the Second Division at the end of the 1894–95 season; making his debut on 28 September 1895 he helped the club return to the First Division at the first time of asking. He made 22 appearances from the 28 games in the promotion season, then missed just one match as the Anfield club achieved a fifth place upon their return to the top flight. Goldie's only goal came on 17 October 1896 during the same season but his goal wasn't enough to prevent Liverpool losing 4–3 to Sunderland at Roker Park. Hurlford
Hurlford (Scottish Gaelic: ''Baile Àtha Cliath'') is a village in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It has a population of 4,968. Hurlford's former names include Whirlford and Hurdleford. The village was named Whirlford as a result of a ford crossing the River Irvine east of Hurlford Cross, near Shawhill. It shares its name in Gaelic, Baile Àtha Cliath ("The Ford of the Hurdles") with the Irish capital Dublin. The census locality is called Hurlford and Crookedholm. Anfield
Anfield is a football stadium in Anfield, Liverpool, Merseyside, England, which has a seating capacity of 53,394, making it the seventh largest football stadium in England. It has been the home of Liverpool F.C. since their formation in 1892. It was originally the home of Everton from 1884 to 1891, before they moved to Goodison Park after a dispute with the club president. John Wyllie Goldie (10 October 1889 – 26 February 1958) was a Scottish footballer who played as a centre half or right half. He began his career with junior club Hurlford Thistle before moving to England with Fulham of the Football League Second Division, where he briefly played alongside older brother Bill (another brother, Archie, was also a professional). A move to Glossop in 1911 led to move playing time, and he soon moved on to Bury.
