Archie Campbell (judge)
Archie Gray Campbell (13 April 1942 – 17 April 2007) was a former Justice of the Superior Court of Ontario and the lower Ontario Court. Biography Born in Montreal, Quebec, Campbell graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1967. He worked at the Attorney General of Ontario's office as appeal counsel for the attorney general and as deputy attorney general. He later was senior policy advisor to the current Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Ontario Roy McMurtry. Outside of the AG office, Campbell worked briefly at the Parkdale Legal Clinic in 1977 and taught at Osgoode Hall. He was appointed to the bench in 1986. Campbell's notable contributions included a 1995 inquiry into the police investigation of Paul Bernardo's crimes and the 2003 SARS Commission inquiry. Archibald Campbell (2 January 1874 – 1 September 1955) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party and Secretary of the Port Chalmers Waterside Workers Union. Political career Norman Hartley Campbell, the brother of Archibald Campbell, had unsuccessfully contested the Chalmers electorate in the and s. His brother had already won the nomination as the Labour candidate for the against Michael Connelly, when he died in February 1935 following an operation. The Labour Party hierarchy wanted to make Connolly their candidate, but there was resentment and a new ballot was held, which was won by Archibald Campbell. Archie Campbell (November 7, 1914 – August 29, 1987) was an American comedian, writer, and star of ''Hee Haw'', a country-flavored network television variety show. He was also a recording artist with several hits for RCA Victor in the 1960s. Biography Early career Born in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, Campbell studied art at Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina, after which he began a radio career at WNOX in Knoxville. After a year alongside Roy Acuff on their ''Mid-Day Merry-Go-Round'', he relocated to WDOD in Chattanooga, where he stayed until joining the United States Navy in 1941. At the end of World War II, Campbell returned to WNOX. He left that station for rival WROL where he helped start Knoxville's first country music television show (on WROL-TV), ''Country Playhouse'', that premiered in 1952 and ran until 1958. Archibald Stewart "Iron Man" Campbell (October 20, 1903 – December 22, 1989) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees in the 1928 season. He also played with the Washington Senators in 1929 and the Cincinnati Reds in 1930. Archie Campbell (born 10 January 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays for Crossgates Primrose. Campbell started his career at Rangers, but left to join Morton after seven years at Ibrox. He also had a loan spell at Cowdenbeath where he scored five league goals as they failed to avoid relegation.
