Archibald Freeman
Archibald C. Freeman (August 13, 1847 – January 26, 1918) was an American soldier who received the Medal of Honor for valor during the American Civil War. Biography Freeman joined the Army from Newburgh, New York, in July 1862, claiming to be 18 years old. He served in the 124th New York Infantry and was promoted to Corporal less than two weeks prior to his MOH action. He received the Medal of Honor on December 1, 1864, for his actions at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, and was mustered out with his regiment in June 1865. After the war, he moved to Limestone County, Texas Limestone County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 22,146. Its county seat is Groesbeck. Newburgh is a city in the U.S. state of New York, within Orange County. With a population of 28,856 as of the 2020 census, it is a principal city of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown metropolitan area. Located north of New York City, and south of Albany on the Hudson River within the Hudson Valley Area, the city of Newburgh is located near Stewart International Airport, one of the primary airports for Downstate New York.
