The archdeaconry of Auckland is a post in the Church of England Diocese of Durham. It was created from the Archdeaconry of Durham by Order-in-Council on 23 May 1882, when the Diocese of Newcastle was created from Durham's other two archdeaconries. Colin Dunlop (bishop)
(David) Colin Dunlop (31 July 1897 – 23 February 1968) was an Anglican bishop in the 20th century. Educated at Radley and New College, Oxford, he was ordained after wartime service. He enlisted in 1915 as ‘Medically A1’ and served with the 3rd Buffs in France. He was a lieutenant when he relinquished command to attend New College. Richard Lee "Rick" Simpson (born 5 July 1966) is a British Anglican priest. He has been the Archdeacon of Auckland in the Diocese of Durham since 2018. Simpson was educated at Keble College, Oxford and Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. He was ordained deacon in 1993, and priest in 1994. He was a curate in Heaton, Newcastle until 1997. Nick Barker (priest)
Nicholas John Willoughby Barker (born 12 December 1949) is a British Anglican priest. He was the Archdeacon of Auckland in the Diocese of Durham from 2007 until his retirement on 31 July 2017. Barker was educated at Sedbergh School and Oriel College, Oxford. After studying for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol he was a curate at St Mary, Watford from 1977 to 1980. After that he was Vicar, Team Vicar of St James & Emmanuel, Didsbury from 1980 to 1986 then Rector (ecclesiastical), Team Rector, St George, Kidderminster from 1986 to 2007. Ian Jagger
Ian Jagger (born 17 April 1955) is a retired British Anglican priest. From 2006 until retirement, he served as the archdeacon of Durham, a senior priest in the Diocese of Durham, Church of England. After parish ministry in the Diocese of London, the Diocese of Oxford, and the Diocese of Portsmouth, he was Archdeacon of Auckland from 2001 to 2006. Derek Hodgson (priest)
John Derek Hodgson (15 November 1931 – 22 November 2007) was an Anglican priest in the last decades of the 20th century and the first of the 21st. Born on 15 November 1931, he was educated at King James School, Bishop Auckland and St John's College, Durham. Charles James Stranks (10 May 1901 – 30 August 1981) was a British Anglican priest and author. John Ramsbotham
John Alexander Ramsbotham (25 February 1906 – 16 December 1989) was an eminent Anglican clergyman during the middle third of the 20th century. Early life and education Son of late Rev. Alexander Ramsbotham and of late (Margaret) Emily, née Cooke (m 1896). Educated at Haileybury and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
