Archbishop Shaw High School is an Archdiocesan school administered under the Salesians of St. John Bosco. Marrero is a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. Marrero is on the south side (referred to as the "West Bank") of the Mississippi River, within the New Orleans– Metairie–Kenner metropolitan statistical area. Joe Zimmerman Stadium
Joe Zimmerman Stadium is a 3,000-seat natural turf football/multipurpose stadium located on the campus of Archbishop Shaw High School. It is the home stadium for Archbishop Shaw athletics in addition to hosting sporting events for multiple area schools. History Groundbreaking for the stadium, originally named Archbishop Shaw High School Stadium, took place on November 1, 2017. The stadium opened in 2018 and was later renamed Joe Zimmerman Stadium on September 13, 2019 after former Archbishop Shaw head football coach, Joe Zimmerman. New Orleans Catholic League
The Catholic League ( LHSAA district 9-5A) is a high school sports league in the Greater New Orleans area. History The history of the Catholic League can be traced back to 1895, but the first season of the Catholic League as we know it was in 1955. The league is named for having mostly New Orleans' oldest and biggest Catholic schools, though some public schools have played in the league as well. Chalmette High School in St. Bernard Parish had the longest tenure of any public school in the Catholic League. Chalmette was admitted to the Catholic League, then District 6-AAAA, in 1970 and stayed for 18 years. Archbishop Chapelle High School is a Catholic secondary school for young women located in Metairie, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. History Archbishop Chapelle High School was founded in 1962 by the Archdiocese of New Orleans and was named after Archbishop Placide Louis Chapelle, the first Archbishop of New Orleans in the twentieth century. Archbishop Blenk High School was an all girl Catholic high school in Gretna, Louisiana. The school was located on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, the school was founded in 1962, named after James Blenk, and staffed by the Marianites of Holy Cross. Immaculata High School was a Catholic high school in Marrero, Louisiana. Immaculata High School opened in 1956 as a part of Immaculate Conception Parish. Immaculata answered a growing need for Catholic secondary education on the Westbank. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, the School Sisters of Notre Dame served Immaculata from its inception until May 1979. In August 1979, the Salesian Sisters came to Immaculata. The founding pastor, Msgr. Paul Gaudin, envisioned a girls' school. At the time, however, the absence of a boys' Catholic High School in the area prompted parents to seek admission also for their sons. Salesian Preventive System
The Salesian Preventive System is the educational method of the Salesians, built upon the pedagogical experience of Saint John Bosco with poor youngsters in 19th century Turin. It is based on the three pillars of reason, religion, and lovingkindness and is opposed to what Don Bosco refers to as the Repressive System of Education.
