Archangelos, Rhodes
Archangelos ( el, Αρχάγγελος) is a town and a former municipality on the island of Rhodes, in the Dodecanese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Rhodes, of which it is a municipal unit. Location and population Archangelos is located about 30 kilometers south of the town of Rhodes on the island's east coast at an elevation of 160 meters. Its population according to the 2011 census was 5,384 making it the fifth largest town of the island (after the capital Rhodes, and the town of Trianta (Ialysos), Kremasti and Afantou. The town's name derives from Archangel Michael who is also considered its patron. The municipal unit of Archangelos has a land area of 115.375 km², and includes several other towns, the largest of which are Malónas (pop. 982) and Másari (1,004). Archangelos, Preveza
Nea Sinopi ( el, Νέα Σινώπη) is a village and a community of Preveza regional unit, in the region of Epirus, in western Greece. The community consists of the villages Nea Sinopi and Archangelos. It is situated between low hills, at about 40 m elevation. It is about 15 kilometers north of the town of Preveza. Its population in 2011 was 533 for the village, and 864 for the community. Population History Archangelos and Neo Sinopi were founded in 1922, as a result of the population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Many of the refugees were from a village near modern Sinop. The Roman aqueduct In Archangelos, there are some remains of the Roman aqueduct of ancient Nicopolis. The Roman aqueduct, 50 km long, carried the water from the springs of Louros to two cisterns in the Nymphaeum of Nikopolis. Archangelos, Pella
Archangelos ( el, Αρχάγγελος, before 1925: Όσσιανη - ''Ossiani''; ruq, Oșani) is a village and part of the Exaplatanos municipal unit in the Pella regional unit of Macedonia, Greece, near Aridaia. The village is known for its monastery of Saint Michael, in which many monks occupy themselves with the painting of icons. The inhabitants of Archangelos mainly make their living out of the cultivation of cherries. The town is not widely known among tourists, though there are a few B&B's, shops and bars. Archangelos had 709 inhabitants in 1981.
