''Arcanum'' (stylized as a͡rcānˈum on the cover) is the ninth album by Acoustic Alchemy, released on June 18, 1996. It would be their penultimate release on the GRP jazz label. The production on this album differed from normal; the band recorded the disc live at Pinewood Film Studios, London, UK. They enlisted the help of the London Metropolitan Orchestra to provide backing. The album contained twelve tracks, three of which were new ("Columbia", "Chance Meeting" and "Something She Said"), and the others re-recordings of tracks selected from the band's discography to this point. Footage from some of the recording of this album appears on the GRP video release, "Best Kept Secret" (VHS 1998, DVD 2006). History 2009–13: Early years Julian Pratt first conceived of an early version of Show Me the Body after meeting Harlan Steed in ninth grade at Elisabeth Irwin High School. Julian became increasingly engrossed in the New York hardcore music scene when he volunteered at the Lower Eastside's ABC No Rio social space, a venue that hosts daytime punk shows on Saturdays. They bonded over playing music with Pratt's cousin, their former drummer and eventual in-house producer, Gabriel Millman. They officially became Show Me the Body around a year after meeting. Arcanum, Ohio
Arcanum ( ) is a village in Darke County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,457 at the 2020 census. History Arcanum was laid out in 1849. The Greenville and Miami railroad arrived to Arcanum in 1852, connecting it to Dayton and much of the outside world. This helped contribute to the majority of its economic prosperity. Arcanum received its name in November of 1848 when two engineers were given the task by John Gunder. Gunder instructed the men to "select a name and have one that is not on the map of the globe." Between the first requirement and the dark, foggy November weather, the men chose "Arcanum," which conveniently means "secret, hidden." A post office has been in operation at Arcanum since 1852. Geography Arcanum is located at (39.991714, -84.554797). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all land. Arcanum (encyclical)
''Arcanum'' (also known as Arcanum Divinae) is an encyclical issued 10 February 1880 by Pope Leo XIII on the topic of Christianity, Christian marriage. It was considered the forerunner to Pope Pius XI's 1930 ''Casti connubii'' and Pope Paul VI's 1968 ''Humanae vitae''. ''Arcanum'' outlines the rule of marriage in the late 19th century, and goes through those actions which weaken the marriage sacrament, such as polygamy and divorce. The encyclical also posits the church as a protector of marriage, and not one interfering in the marital relationship. Summary Pope Leo XIII began “Arcanum” by recalling the history of marriage, established in the Old Testament when God created man and woman: ''"We record what is to all known, and cannot be doubted by any, that God, on the sixth day of creation, having made man from the slime of the earth, and having breathed into his face the breath of life, gave him a companion, whom He miraculously took from the side of Adam when he was locke ...

The Arcanum (role-playing Game)
''Atlantis'' is a fantasy role-playing game (RPG) originally published by Bard Games, set in the ancient world before Atlantis sank. It first consisted of three books: '' The Arcanum'', '' The Lexicon'', and '' The Bestiary'', and for this reason was originally called ''The Atlantean Trilogy'' or ''The Atlantis Trilogy''. ''Atlantis'' was one of the many fantasy RPGs that followed the rise of the popular ''Dungeons & Dragons'' RPG in the late 1970s. However, instead of featuring a fictional fantasy world such as ''D&D''s Greyhawk or ''Runequest''s Glorantha, ''Atlantis'' is based on a pseudo-historical version of the Earth and features historical mythology and creatures from myth. Setting The world setting is Earth, but in a fictionalized Antediluvian Age (a quasi-historical/mythical interpretation of the ancient past). Geography The geographic regions and real-world influences are: * Mediterranea (Europe) * Eria (North America) * Tamoanchan (South America) * Turan (Arabia) * G ...

The Arcanum (novel)
''The Arcanum'' is a 2005 novel by Thomas Wheeler. Set in 1919 it concerns the last case of occult-busters Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Harry Houdini, H. P. Lovecraft, and voodoo queen Marie Laveau. Origins Thomas Wheeler intended to write a novel about the Spiritualist Movement featuring a world of séances and shadows. The lead character was to embody the essence of the times, who would have the physical attributes of Houdini, the sleuthing skills of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creepy intellect of H. P. Lovecraft, and the otherworldly skill-set of a Marie Laveau. Eventually Wheeler decided to use the original personages, and create a new character, the enigmatic leader of the Arcanum — Konstantin Duvall. Wheeler's brother suggested a vital element of the tale with the question: "Why can't it be their last adventure?" Plot summary The year is 1919 and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle must investigate the murder of his mentor (and founder of ''The Arcanum''), Konstantin Duvall. To do so h ...
