Andrew Arbuckle
Andrew Arbuckle (born 12 April 1944) is a Scotland, Scottish Scottish Liberal Democrats, Liberal Democrat politician, and a former Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Mid Scotland and Fife (Scottish Parliament electoral region), Mid Scotland and Fife region. He was a Fife councillor until 2012. He was first elected as a councillor in 1986. He replaced Keith Raffan at the Scottish Parliament after Raffan resigned in 2005. Arbuckle failed to win re-election at the 2007 Scottish Parliament election. Arbuckle was the farming editor for the Dundee Courier from 1985 to 2005. He and his brother John published three farming-related books. Roscoe Conkling "Fatty" Arbuckle (; March 24, 1887 – June 29, 1933) was an American silent film actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter. He started at the Selig Polyscope Company and eventually moved to Keystone Studios, where he worked with Mabel Normand and Harold Lloyd as well as with his nephew, Al St. John. He also mentored Charlie Chaplin, Monty Banks and Bob Hope, and brought vaudeville star Buster Keaton into the movie business. Arbuckle was one of the most popular silent stars of the 1910s and one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, signing a contract in 1920 with Paramount Pictures for $14,000 (). Phillip Arbuckle
Philip Heckman Arbuckle (September 6, 1882 – June 11, 1932) was an American football, basketball, and baseball coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas from 1908 to 1911, Rice University from 1912 to 1917 and 1919 to 1923, and Louisiana Tech University in 1924, compiling a career college football coaching record of 60–44–14. At Rice he tallied a 51–25–8 record. His 1919 team went 8–1, to mark his best season. His only losing season at Rice came in 1923. In 1924, he coached at Louisiana Tech, where he compiled a 1–6–1 record. Arbuckle died in Houston, Texas, on June 11, 1932, of a pulmonary embolism caused by subacute bacterial endocarditis. Maclyn Arbuckle (July 9, 1866 – March 31, 1931) was an American screen and stage actor. He was the brother of actor Andrew Arbuckle and cousin of comedian Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. Early life Arbuckle was born in San Antonio, Texas, on July 9, 1866. The son of Mr. and Mrs. James Arbuckle, he was educated in Glasgow before studying law in Boston. When he was 21, he was admitted to the bar, but he stopped practicing law after a year and became an actor. The change of careers came after Arbuckle lost an election for justice of the peace. In a journal entry dated December 1888, he wrote why he hoped to not practice law much longer: "The profession is overcrowded and clients can dictate fees. I have set my heart on other fields where I can get something for my labor, and as soon as an opportunity offers I will go on the stage, where I can have the same chance at the 'greenbacks' and silver of this country." Early life Arbuckle was born in Galveston, Texas, to a family of Scottish Americans, Scottish descent. His brother Macklyn was 20 years old at the time of Andrew's birth. John Arbuckle (1838 – March 27, 1912) was an American businessman who founded ''Arbuckle Brothers Company'', a coffee roasting and sugar refining company. Early life John Arbuckle III was born in Scotland in 1838 to Thomas Arbuckle, a Scottish immigrant to the United States and an operator of a cotton mill and a small grocery and spice business. He attended local schools in Allegheny City and Pittsburgh. He attended Washington and Jefferson College for a short time starting in 1856. He dropped out shortly after. James Arbuckle (1700 – 1742?) was an Irish poet and critic, associated politically with Presbyterianism and Whiggism. His birthplace was possibly Belfast, but he was the son of a Presbyterian minister in Dublin, and educated at Glasgow University, where his studies were disrupted by his struggles against Calvinist authorities (concerning the right of students to cast votes for the university's rectorship). He espoused the philosophy of Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 3rd Earl of Shaftesbury. His first published work was ''Snuff'' (1717), a mock-epic, which won praise from Allan Ramsay.
