The Arboretum de Born is a small arboretum located at 1400 metres altitude on the Plateau du Roi near Le Born, Lozère, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. It was created between 1964 and 1967 to study conifers suitable for reforestation, and according to Arbez et al., now contains 38 taxa (primarily conifers). An arboretum (plural: arboreta) in a general sense is a botanical collection composed exclusively of trees of a variety of species. Originally mostly created as a section in a larger garden or park for specimens of mostly non-local species, many modern arboreta are in botanical gardens as living collections of woody plants and is intended at least in part for scientific study. In Latin, an ''arboretum'' is a place planted with trees, not necessarily in this specific sense, and "arboretum" as an English word is first recorded used by John Claudius Loudon in 1833 in ''The Gardener's Magazine'', but the concept was already long-established by then. Reforestation (occasionally, reafforestation) is the natural or intentional restocking of existing forests and woodlands (forestation) that have been depleted, usually through deforestation, but also after clearcutting.
