Arbanitis Watsonorum
''Arbanitis watsonorum'' is a species of armoured trap-door spider in the family Idiopidae, and is endemic to New South Wales. It was first described by Wishart and Rowell in 2008 as ''Misgolas watsonorum'', but was transferred to the genus, ''Arbanitis,'' by Michael Rix Michael Rix (born 8 January 1981) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally rookie listed with Hawthorn for the 2004 season, Rix did not ... and others in 2017. The species epithet, ''watsonorum'', honours Ken and Sue Watson. Description The carapace of the male holotype is 6.75 mm long by 5.15 mm wide, with an abdomen 7.74 mm by 4.55 mm. Idiopidae, also known as armored trapdoor spiders, is a family of mygalomorph spiders first described by Eugène Simon in 1889. They have a large body similar to tarantulas. A holotype is a single physical example (or illustration) of an organism, known to have been used when the species (or lower-ranked taxon) was formally described.
