is a railway station in the city of Akita, Akita Prefecture, Japan, operated by JR East. Lines Araya Station is served by the Uetsu Main Line, and is located from the terminus of the line at Niitsu Station. Station layout The station has a single island platform connected by a level crossing. The station has a ''Midori no Madoguchi'' staffed ticket office. Platforms History Araya Station opened on February 22, 1920. With the privatization of JNR on April 1, 1987, the station came under the control of JR East. is a railway station in Akiha-ku, Niigata, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Lines Niitsu Station is served by the following three lines. It is the terminus of the Uetsu Main Line and the Banetsu West Line. It is also served by the Shinetsu Main Line, and is located 175.6 kilometers from the starting point of that line at . Akita Omoriyama Zoo
The , also known as “Milve”, is a municipal zoo opened in July 1967 in the city of Akita, Akita Prefecture, Japan. Opened in 1972, the zoo covers 15 hectares, with 114 species on display. It is accredited by the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums (JAZA). The zoo is modeled after Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido with holding areas designed to mimic the animal’s natural habitat, and incorporating “action exhibits” where animal activity is encouraged, particularly during feeding time. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
