, az, Araz, fa, ارس, tr, Aras The Aras (also known as the Araks, Arax, Araxes, or Araz) is a river in the Caucasus. It rises in eastern Turkey and flows along the borders between Turkey and Armenia, between Turkey and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Nakhchivan exclave of Azerbaijan, between Iran and both Azerbaijan and Armenia, and, finally, through Azerbaijan where it flows into the Kura (river), Kura river. It drains the south side of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains while the Kura drains the north side of the Lesser Caucasus. The river's total length is and its Drainage basin, watershed covers an area of . The Aras is one of the longest rivers in the Caucasus. Names In classical antiquity, the river was known to the Greeks as Araxes ( gr, Ἀράξης). Its modern Armenian name is ''Arax'' or ''Araks'' ( hy, Արաքս). Arax Mansourian
Arax Mansourian ( Armenian; Արաքս Մանսուրյան, born August 1, 1946) is an Armenian soprano classical singer. Mansourian serves as Professor at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory since 2015. In 2015 she was awarded with the First Degree Medal of Armenia. In 2010 Mansourian was Awarded with the Medal of Komitas by the Ministry Of the Diaspora. Biography Arax Mansourian was born in Beirut, Lebanon. Her family moved to Armenia when Arax was still an infant. Growing up in Armenia. She studied at the Romanos Meliqyan college of music and later graduated from the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory, where she was the only performer of modern classical atonal music. During her studies she participated in festivals throughout Russia and elsewhere in the Soviet Union. Soon after graduation, she started to sing at the Yerevan State Opera.
