Arau Railway Station
The Arau railway station is a Malaysian railway station located at and named after the town of Arau, Perlis. The current railway station was built as part of the Ipoh–Padang Besar Electrification and Double-Tracking Project, which was completed in December 2014. The new station replaced an old wooden single platform station that closed on 22 June 2011. Location and locality As the name denotes, it is located in the town of Arau, Perlis and being a royal town, it is located near Arau Palace where the Raja of Perlis resides. The new name of Stesen Diraja (Royal Station) also denotes its significance to the royal town. It is also located around 10 kilometres to the state capital, Kangar. ETS and Komuter services do make a stop here and the location is considered very strategic in Perlis as it is near to Arau bus station that serves bus routes to Kangar, Changlun and Alor Setar, and there's also taxi services that may drive passengers to Kuala Perlis, well known being one of th ... Perlis, ( Northern Malay: ''Peghelih''), also known by its honorific title Perlis Indera Kayangan, is the smallest state in Malaysia by area and population. Located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, it borders the Thai provinces of Satun and Songkhla to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) (Jawi: كريتاڤي تانه ملايو برحد) or Malayan Railways Limited is the main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia. KTM West Coast Railway Line
The West Coast railway line runs from Padang Besar railway station close to the Malaysia–Thailand border in Perlis (where it connects with the State Railway of Thailand) to Woodlands Train Checkpoint in Singapore. It is called the West Coast railway line because it serves the West Coast states of Peninsular Malaysia. The 1,151-kilometre line is busier than the East Coast railway line because the West Coast railway line handles a variety of passenger train services such as the KTM ETS services, the KTM Intercity services, the International Express, the KTM Komuter in the Klang Valley and Greater Penang, and freight trains. The House of Jamalullail is the current ruling house of the state of Perlis in Malaysia. It was founded in 1843 together with the formation of the state of Perlis as a monarchy, after the Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin II gave his endorsement to the Jamalullail family for the secession of Perlis from Kedah with the Jamalullail family as its hereditary rulers. Before the House of Jamalullail ascended to rule as Rajas of Perlis, the most prominent title in Perlis was the Raja Muda or Yang di-Pertuan Muda of Perlis and Kedah (crown prince of Perlis and Kedah), a title comparable to Prince of Wales within the United Kingdom.
