Arabian Queen (foaled 23 February 2012) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed good form as a juvenile, winning two races including the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes. In the following year she won the Princess Elizabeth Stakes but was beaten in her next three starts before recording an upset win over Golden Horn (horse), Golden Horn in the International Stakes. Background Arabian Queen is a small bay mare with no white Horse markings, markings bred in Ireland by her owner, Jeff Smith's Littleton Stud. She was sired by Dubawi a top-class son of Dubai Millennium, whose wins included the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Prix Jacques Le Marois. Makfi
Makfi (foaled 4 March 2007) is a British-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In 2010 he won the 2000 Guineas and Prix Jacques Le Marois. Background Makfi's sire is Irish 2,000 Guineas and Prix Jacques Le Marois winner Dubawi. Makfi was one of Dubawi's first crop of foals, which also included Poet's Voice and Monterosso. Makfi's dam, Dhelaal, is a daughter of Green Desert and a half-sister of the Cartier Champion Two-year-old Colt Alhaarth. As a granddaughter of the broodmare Green Valley, Dhelaal was also closely related to Green Dancer, Solemia and Authorized. He went into training with Marcus Tregoning in England and was owned by his breeder Hamdan Al Maktoum. Windsor Racecourse
Windsor Racecourse, also known as Royal Windsor Racecourse, is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Windsor, Berkshire, England. It is one of only two figure-of-eight courses in the United Kingdom, the other being at Fontwell Park. Description Windsor Racecourse is located on the banks of the River Thames and occupies a large island between the main channel of the River and the Clewer Mill Stream backwater. Although the course is shaped like a figure-of-eight, the full circuit is never used, so in races of 1m, 1m 2f and 1m 3f 99y (the longest distance at Windsor) the runners turn only right-handed. In the Groove (foaled 25 February 1987) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse. In a racing career which lasted from June 1989 until November 1991 she ran in twenty-one races and won seven times, including four at Group One level. After winning once from four starts at two, she developed into a top-class filly at three, winning the Musidora Stakes and the Irish 1000 Guineas against her own age and sex before defeating colts and older horses in the International Stakes and the Champion Stakes. Desert Orchid (11 April 1979 – 13 November 2006), known as ''Dessie'', was an English racehorse. The gray (horse), grey achieved a revered and esteemed status within National Hunt racing, where he was much loved by supporters for his front-running attacking style, iron will and extreme versatility. Oscar Schindler (horse)
Oscar Schindler (4 February 1992 – 13 February 2007) was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and stallion best known for being the second horse to win two runnings of the Irish St. Leger. In a racing career which lasted from October 1994 until November 1997 he competed in five different countries and won five of his twenty starts. After winning his only race as a two-year-old in 1994, he failed to win in the following year but ran prominently in several major races. He reached his peak as a four-year-old in 1996, winning the Ormonde Stakes, Hardwicke Stakes and Irish St. Leger as well a finishing third in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In the following year he won a second Irish St. Leger and finished fourth in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He remained in training as a six-year-old but had injury problems and was retired from racing. Northern Treasure (foaled 18 February 1973) was an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. As a two-year-old in 1975 he won twice, finished second six times and third once from nine races, showing consistent form but appearing to be some way short of top class. In the following spring he was beaten in his first four races before recording an upset win in the Irish 2000 Guineas. He continued his improvement when moved up in distance, winning the Blandford Stakes and finishing third in both the Irish Derby and the Champion Stakes. After his retirement from racing he was exported to stand as a breeding stallion in Australia. Background Northern Treasure was a chestnut horse with a white star bred in Ireland by Tim Rogers and C.
