April Ngatupuna
April Ngatupuna (born 20 April 2003) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL Women's Premiership. A or , she previously played for the Gold Coast Titans and for the Queensland Reds in Super W. Background Ngatupuna was born in Porirua, New Zealand and is of Cook Islander and Samoan descent. In Porirua, she played rugby union for the Northern United Rugby Club and attended Porirua College before moving to Brisbane, Queensland. In Brisbane, Ngatupuna attended Marsden State High School and played junior rugby league for the Wests Panthers. Playing career Early career In 2021, Ngatupuna played for the Panthers in the QRL under-19 competition and for Valkyries in the QRL Women's Premiership. Porirua, ( mi, Pari-ā-Rua) a city in the Wellington Region of the North Island of New Zealand, is one of the four cities that constitute the Wellington metropolitan area. 2023 NRL Women's Season
The 2023 NRLW Premiership was the sixth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. As announced in March 2022 by the governing body, the National Rugby League, the number of teams increased from six to ten. The duration of the season was confirmed by the NRL in a media release on 14 February 2023 as nine rounds followed by semi-finals and a Grand Final. Contracted players were paid for a seven-week preparation period prior to the commencement of the competition, plus two weeks leave, for a total of 20 weeks. The contract period for players was, however, twelve months. The announcement also confirmed a rise in the salary cap from $350,000 in 2022 to $900,000 in 2023. The Souths Logan Magpies, more commonly referred to by their former names Southern Suburbs Magpies, or South Brisbane Magpies, or often simply referred to as Souths, are a rugby league football club based in the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Australia. 2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup
The 2021 Women's Rugby League World Cup was the sixth staging of the Women's Rugby League World Cup, and was be one of three major tournaments part of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. The tournament was held in England from 1 November to 19 November 2022. Originally planned for 2021, it was delayed a year along with the Men's and Wheelchair tournaments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament featured eight teams, an increase of two from the previous tournament. For the first time the tournament had parity with the men's and wheelchair tournaments with all participants being paid the same while all 61 matches across three tournaments will be broadcast live. The 2022 NRLW Premiership was the fifth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. The season started on Saturday, 20 August and ran for seven weekends. This comprised five rounds, semi-finals for the top four teams, and a Grand Final that was played on Sunday 2 October as a curtain raiser to the 2022 men's Grand Final. Central Queensland Capras are a semi-professional rugby league football club primarily based in Rockhampton, Queensland and representing Central Queensland. They currently play in the Queensland Cup, the premier rugby league competition in Queensland. From 2023, they will serve as one of the feeder clubs for the Dolphins. The season was planned to start in August 2021, postponed to October 2021 and further postponed to 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
