"April Love" is a popular music, popular song with music by Sammy Fain and lyrics by Paul Francis Webster. It was written as the theme song for a 1957 April Love (film), film of the same name starring Pat Boone and Shirley Jones and directed by Henry Levin (film director), Henry Levin. Helped by the release of the film, "April Love" became a number-one hit in the United States for Pat Boone, and spent twenty-six weeks on the US pop charts (it spent 6 weeks at number 1). In 1958, it was nominated for an Academy Awards, Oscar for Academy Award for Best Original Song, Best Music, Original Song but lost out to “All the Way (Frank Sinatra song), All the Way”. Patrick Charles Eugene Boone (born June 1, 1934) is an American singer and actor. He was a successful pop singer in the United States during the 1950s and early 1960s. He sold more than 45 million records, had 38 Top 40 hits, and appeared in more than 12 Hollywood films. According to ''Billboard'', Boone was the second-biggest charting artist of the late 1950s, behind only Elvis Presley, and was ranked at No. 9 in its listing of the Top 100 Top 40 Artists 1955–1995. Until the 2010s, Boone held the ''Billboard'' record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the charts with one or more songs each week. Artie Malvin
Artie Malvin (July 7, 1922 – June 16, 2006) was a composer and vocalist who was the baritone member of The Crew Chiefs. He also sang with Glenn Miller's band. Career During World War II, Malvin performed with Glenn Miller as part of The Crew Chiefs. Recordings of his performances with Glenn Miller and the Army Air Force Band were released as V-Discs. After World War II and Glenn Miller's death, Malvin became heavily immersed in the popular music of the 1940s and 1950s, being involved in everything from children's music, to the beginnings of rock and roll, to jingles for commercials. In the late 1950s he became involved in television as the music arranger for The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom, and he contributed to Jimmy Dorsey's final recording sessions, including the #2 hit "So Rare". Billy Vaughn
Richard Smith "Billy" Vaughn (April 12, 1919 – September 26, 1991) was an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, orchestra leader, and A&R man for Dot Records. Biography Vaughn was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, United States, where his father, Alvis Radford Vaughn, was a barber who loved music and inspired Billy to teach himself to play the mandolin at the age of three, while suffering from measles. He went on to learn a number of other instruments. In 1941, Vaughn joined the United States National Guard for what had been planned as a one-year assignment, but when World War II broke out, he was in for the duration as a valued musician and composer at Camp Shelby, Mississippi.
