Aprapadina
''Aprapadina'' (, ) was a lower garment for women in ancient India. The garment was long, reaching all the way to the toes. Etymology As Aṣṭādhyāyī elucidates, the garment was long and touched the forepart of the feet. Aprapadina is a Sanskrit word that means "reaching to the feet." Thus, it is called that. Depictions Aprapadina appears in depictions of Indian sculptures and paintings. For example, worshipping Yakshini (in fragments of railing post, Mathura, 2nd century) is described as wearing an Aprapadina. The Yaksi's hands are folded in front of her (in anjali mudra), and she is draped in a long shawl over her shoulders, signifying that she is engaged in worship. A long, transparent skirt (Aprapadina) is held in place by a hip-girdle (mekhala) made of four beaded strings and a clasp in the front that keeps it in place. An antariya () is a lower body garment from ancient India. It is a long white or coloured strip of cotton passed through the legs, tucked at the back and covering the legs loosely, then flowing into long pleats at front of the legs. History Antriya is an ancient garment mentioned in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Aṣṭādhyāyī
The (Devanagari अष्टाध्यायी) is a grammar that describes a form of an early Indo-Aryan language: Sanskrit. Authored by Sanskrit philologist and scholar Pāṇini and dated to around 500 BCE, it describes the language as current in his time, specifically the dialect and register of an élite of model speakers, referred to by Pāṇini himself as ''śiṣṭa''. The work also accounts both for some features specific to the older Vedic form of the language, as well as certain dialectal features current in the author's time. Yakshini
''Yakshinis'' or ''yakshis'' (यक्षिणी sa, yakṣiṇī or ''yakṣī''; pi, yakkhiṇī or ''yakkhī'') are a class of female nature spirits in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain religious mythologies that are different from devas and asuras (classes of power-seeking beings), and gandharvas or apsaras (celestial nymphs). Yakshinis and their male counterparts, the yakshas, are one of the many paranormal beings associated with the centuries-old sacred groves of India. Yakshis are also found in the traditional legends of Northeastern Indian tribes, ancient legends of Kerala, and in the folktales of Kashmiri Muslims. Bhutesvara Yakshis
The Bhutesvara Yakshis, also spelled Bhutesar Yakshis, are a series of yakshi reliefs on a railing, dating to the 2nd century CE during the time of the Kushan Empire. The reliefs were found in the Bhuteshwar mound, around the remains of a Buddhist stupa, outside Mathura, and are now located in the Indian Museum in Kolkata,''The Culture of India'', Kuiper, Kathleen, Britannica Educational Publishing, 201p. 209/ref> with three pillars, and three more pillars and one fragment (half of a pillar) in the Mathura Museum. They are an important example of Mathura art, of which these and other yakshi figures are "perhaps the best known examples". Vijayanagara Empire
The Vijayanagara Empire, also called the Karnata Kingdom, was a Hinduism, Hindu empire based in the region of South India, which consisted the modern states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa and some parts of Telangana and Maharashtra.
