Visual Approach
A visual approach is an approach to a runway at an airport conducted under instrument flight rules (IFR) but where the pilot proceeds by visual reference and clear of clouds to the airport. The pilot must at all times have either the airport or the preceding aircraft in sight. This approach must be authorized and under the control of the appropriate air traffic control (ATC) facility. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) definition adds that the visual approach can commence when "either part or all of an instrument approach is not completed", varying only slightly from the Federal Aviation Administration regulation and is essentially identical. Purpose The visual approach allows a pilot to fly to the runway without having to perform an instrument approach. In aviation, an instrument approach or instrument approach procedure (IAP) is a series of predetermined maneuvers for the orderly transfer of an aircraft operating under instrument flight rules from the beginning of the initial approach to a landing, or to a point from which a landing may be made visually. These approaches are approved in the European Union by EASA and the respective country authorities and in the United States by the FAA or the United States Department of Defense for the military. Approach Beach
Approach Beach is a gazetted beach located near Yau Kom Tau on Castle Peak Road in Ting Kau, New Territories, Hong Kong. The beach has barbecue pits and is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Government. The beach is rated as Grade 2 by the Environmental Protection Department for its water quality. The beach, along with Ting Kau Beach, is one of the only two gazetted beaches in Tsuen Wan District that can "swim in Victoria Harbour". The beach offers views of the Ting Kau Bridge as well as Tsing Ma Bridge. History In May 1987, the beach was gazetted by the Hong Kong Government and Hong Kong Jockey Club assisted Regional Council to open the beach. Lotus Approach is a relational database management system included in IBM's Lotus SmartSuite for Microsoft Windows. As a start-up company, Approach was formed in 1991 and won over 30 awards the first year, including "best of show" at Comdex.
