Applewood, Swords
Applewood ( ga, Coill na nÚll) is a neighbourhood in the suburban town of Swords, near Dublin, Ireland. It was built around the year 2002 by property developer Gerry Gannon. It has been designed "village-style" with shops in the centre and housing estates surrounding this. In 2006, it won the Best Urban Village award at the National Tidy Towns competition. Layout Applewood is located north-west of the centre of Swords. The Glen Ellan Distributor Road is the main road providing access to the area. It starts at the Balheary Road and runs west as far as the Applewood Roundabout, then turns south to end at the Rathbeale Road at Outlands Cross. The Rathbeale Road provides access into the centre of Swords and the Balheary Road provides access onto the R132 dual carriageway. A skatepark, or skate park, is a purpose-built recreational environment made for skateboarding, BMX, scootering, wheelchairs, and aggressive inline skating. A skatepark may contain half-pipes, handrails, funboxes, vert ramps, stairsets, quarter pipes, ledges, spine transfers, pyramids, banked ramps, full pipes, pools, bowls, snake runs, and any number of other objects. Educate Together () is an educational charity in Ireland which is the patron body to "equality-based, co-educational, child centred, and democratically run" schools. It was founded in 1984 to act as the patron body for the new multidenominational schools that opened after the establishment of the Dalkey School Project. Irish Grid Reference System
The Irish grid reference system is a system of geographic grid references used for paper mapping in Ireland (both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland). The Irish grid partially overlaps the British grid, and uses a similar co-ordinate system but with a meridian more suited to its westerly location. Usage In general, neither Ireland nor Great Britain uses latitude or longitude in describing internal geographic locations. Instead grid reference systems are used for mapping. Western European Summer Time (WEST, UTC+01:00) is a summer daylight saving time scheme, 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and Coordinated Universal Time.
