The brand was initially a denim label, but has since expanded to include other women's and girl's clothing, perfume and accessories. The brand was launched with a model search televised on VH1. It quickly became popular in the hip hop community, and is referenced in various rap songs, including Twista's "Overnight Celebrity", MC Jin's "36-24-36", DaCav5's "Tetris", Flo Rida's "Low (Flo Rida song), Low", and Eminem's "Shake That". In 2006, it was the sixth most searched for denim brand on Google. The brand's last ad campaign was in 2010, and featured Nelly. On March 7, 2020, Nelly hinted at a comeback by the brand via Instagram. Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. (born November 2, 1974), better known by his stage name Nelly, is an American rapper, singer, actor and entrepreneur. He embarked on his music career with the hip hop group St. Lunatics in 1993 and signed to Universal Records in 1999. Under Universal, Nelly began his solo career in the year 2000, with his debut album ''Country Grammar'', of which the featured title track and the single "Ride wit Me" were top ten hits. The album peaked at number one the ''Billboard'' 200, and became Nelly's best-selling album to date, selling over 8.4 million copies in the United States. Carl Terrell Mitchell (born November 27, 1973), better known by his stage name Twista (formerly Tung Twista), is an American rapper and record producer. He is best known for his Chopper (rap), chopper style of rapping and for once holding the title of fastest English-speaking rapper in the world according to Guinness World Records in 1992, being able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds. In 1997, after appearing on Do or Die (group), Do or Die's hit single "Po Pimp", produced by the Legendary Traxster, Twista signed with Big Beat and Atlantic Records, where he released his third album ''Adrenaline Rush (album), Adrenaline Rush'' and formed the group Speedknot Mobstaz, in 1998. "Overnight Celebrity" is the second single from Twista's 2004 album ''Kamikaze (Twista album), Kamikaze''. The song was produced and features uncredited vocals by Kanye West and uncredited violin by Miri Ben-Ari. It contains a sample of the 1978 song "Cause I Love You" By Lenny Williams. The song reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on May 11, 2004. The song received a nomination for Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Solo Performance at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. Content The song is about Twista meeting a woman on the street and telling her about all the things he could do for her, while pointing out her looks. Jin Au-Yeung (; born June 4, 1982), known professionally as MC Jin, is an American rapper, songwriter, actor and comedian of Chinese descent. Jin is notable for being the first Asian American solo rapper to be signed to a major record label in the United States. Early life Jin Au-Yeung was born on June 4, 1982 in Miami, Florida to Hong Kong immigrants of Hakka descent. He was raised in the general Miami area, where his parents owned a Chinese restaurant and Jin attended John F. Kennedy Middle School in North Miami Beach. Jin went on to attend North Miami Beach Senior High School, from which he graduated in 2000. After graduating, Jin decided to forgo college and begin his rap career. Shortly afterwards, his parents closed the restaurant and the family moved in 2001 to Queens, New York City.
