Apostolic Nuncio To Switzerland
The Apostolic Nunciature to Switzerland is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Switzerland. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio, with the rank of an ambassador. The nunciature is located in the capital of Bern. Federico Ubaldo Baldeschi Colonna (2 September 1625 – 4 October 1691) was an Italian people, Italian Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Cardinal (Catholicism), Cardinal who was adopted by the noble Colonna family. Early life He was born on September 2, 1624, as ''Federico Ubaldo Baldeschi'' in Perugia, the son of Jacopo Baldeschi and Artemisia della Concia. The history of his education is unclear but he was called to Rome as a young man to assist Cardinal Giovanni Giacomo Panciroli. With Panciroli's patronage he was appointed Governor first of Faenza, then of Sabina (region), Sabina and then finally of Fabriano. Soon after he was appointed referendary of the Tribunals of the Apostolic Signature of Justice and of Grace. Giovanni Battista Caprara Montecuccoli (1733 – 1810) was an Italian statesman and Cardinal and archbishop of Milan from 1802 to 1810. As a papal diplomat he served in the embassies in Cologne, Lausanne, and Vienna. As Legate of Pius VII in France, he implemented the ''Concordat'' of 1801, and negotiated with the Emperor Napoleon over the matter of appointments to the restored hierarchy in France. Domenico Silvio Passionei (2 December 1682 – 5 July 1761) was an Italian Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. Biography Born in Fossombrone near Urbino, Marche, he went to Rome in 1695, where he studied philosophy at the Collegio Clementino (Ph.D. in 1701) and law at the university ''La Sapienza''. Already in these early years he corresponded with scholars throughout Europe, including Protestants and Jansenists. In 1706, he was sent as legate to Paris, where he stayed for two years. Later he traveled through the Netherlands, where he participated as official representative of the Holy See at the peace conferences of The Hague (1708) and Utrecht (1712). Upon his return to Rome, he was made a prelate. However, when he was denied a nunciature, he temporarily retired from 1717 (after his father's death) to 1721 on his estate in Fossombrone.
