Apostolic Nuncio To Peru
The Apostolic Nunciature to the Republic of Peru is an ecclesiastical office of the Roman Catholic Church in Peru. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. Papal representation was established in Peru by the Apostolic Delegation to Peru and Bolivia, a single office resident in Peru. As a delegation, it had no diplomatic status but acted on behalf of the Holy See with respect to the Catholic Church in the region. This was then divided to create a nunciature for each country, a diplomatic office. Archbishop Angelo Giacinto Scapardini was named Apostolic Delegate to Peru and Bolivia in 1910. When he was assigned to his next diplomatic post in December 1916, he was described as Internuncio to Peru and Bolivia. Serafino Cimino
Serafino Cimino OFM (3 October 1873 – 4 May 1928) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who led the Franciscans and then served in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Born Antonio Cimino on 3 October 1873 in Capri, Italy, he took the name Serafino as a member of the Order of Friars Minor and was ordained a priest in 1898. He taught at the Ateneo Antoniano in Rome. For two years he did pastoral work among Italian immigrants in New York. From 1915 to 1921 he served as Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor. He was led the Custody of the Holy Land from 1915 to 1918. In that capacity he visited Constantinople and obtained security guarantees for the Custody. Rino Passigato, GCC, GCSE (born 29 March 1944) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church, who was the Apostolic Nuncio to Portugal from 2008 to 2019 and is the current Apostolic Nuncio Emeritus to Portugal. Fortunato Baldelli (6 August 1935 – 20 September 2012) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who was appointed a cardinal in 2010 after a career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1966 to 2009 that included ten years as Apostolic Nuncio to France. He was also the Major Penitentiary of the Apostolic Penitentiary from 2009 to 2012.
