Bucharest
Bucharest ( , ; ro, București ) is the capital and largest city of Romania, as well as its cultural, industrial, and financial centre. Angelo Maria Dolci
Angelo Maria Dolci (12 July 1867 – 13 September 1939) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who was made a cardinal in 1933. He was Bishop of Gubbio from 1900 to 1906, Archbishop of Amalfi from 1911 to 1914, and Apostolic Vicar of Constantinople from 1914 to 1922. He also served in the diplomatic corps of the Holy See as an Apostolic Delegate or Apostolic Nuncio from 1906 to 1910 and from 1914 to 1933. Biography Dolci was born in Civitella d'Agliano on 12 July 1867 and was ordained a priest on 5 June 1890. In preparation for a career in the diplomatic service he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1892. Pope Leo XIII appointed him bishop of Gubbio on 19 April 1900. This is a list of diplomatic missions of the Holy See. Since the fifth century, long before the founding of the Vatican City State in 1929, papal envoys (now known as nuncios) have represented the Holy See to foreign potentates. Additionally, papal representatives known not as nuncios but as apostolic delegates ensure contact between the Holy See and the Catholic Church in countries that do not have diplomatic relations with the Holy See. At present, there is one residential apostolic delegate, for Jerusalem and Palestine, as well as non-residential delegates for four countries (Brunei, Laos, Mauritania, and Somalia) and for the territories and countries without diplomatic relations with the Holy See in three regions (the Arabian Peninsula, the Caribbean, the Pacific Ocean). Miguel Maury Buendía (born 19 November 1955) is a Spanish prelate of the Catholic Church who has spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Francisco-Javier Lozano Sebastián (born November 28, 1943) is a Spanish prelate of the Catholic Church who has spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He has been an archbishop since 1994 and held the title of Apostolic Nuncio to several countries until his resignation in 2015. Biography He was born to a farming family in Villaverde de Íscar on November 28, 1943. He studied at the seminary in Seville and at the Pontifical University of Salamanca. Jean-Claude Périsset (born 13 April 1939) is a Swiss titular archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and diplomat of the Holy See. He served as Apostolic Nuncio to Germany from 2007 until his resignation in 2013. Biography Périsset was born on 13 April 1939 in Estavayer-le-Lac, Switzerland. He was ordained as a priest on 28 June 1964. To prepare for a diplomatic career he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1967. On 16 November 1996, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Accia and was named the secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. Janusz (Januariusz Mikołaj) Bolonek (6 December 1938 – 2 March 2016) was a Polish prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. John Bukovsky ( Slovak: Ján Bukovský), SVD, named Ján Fukna at birth (18 January 1924 – 18 December 2010), was a Slovakia-born American prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Bukovsky was born in Cerová, Slovakia, on 18 January 1924, the fourth of six children. He entered the Society of the Divine Word seminary in Nitra, Czechoslovakia, in 1939. The Society sent him to the United States for additional studies in 1947. Andrea Cassulo (30 November 1869 – 9 January 1952) was an archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church and a representative of the Holy See in Egypt, Canada, Romania and Turkey from 1921 to 1952. Valerio Valeri
Valerio Valeri (7 November 1883 – 22 July 1963) was an Italian Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for Religious in the Roman Curia from 1953 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1953 by Pope Pius XII. President Charles de Gaulle insisted that Valeri be removed as Apostolic Nuncio to France (1936-1944) for collaborating with the Vichy regime.
