Apostolic Nunciature To Qatar
The Apostolic Nunciature to Qatar is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Qatar. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. The Apostolic Nuncio to Qatar is also the Apostolic Nuncio to Kuwait and resides in Kuwait City. Before the Holy See and Qatar established diplomatic relations, the Holy See represented its interests in Qatar through delegations with regional responsibilities, first the Apostolic Delegation to the Red Sea Region established by Pope Paul VI on 3 July 1969 and then the Apostolic Delegation to the Arabian Peninsula established by Pope John Paul II on 26 March 1992. Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. It occupies the Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East; it shares its sole land border with Saudi Arabia to the south, with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. Pope Paul VI ( la, Paulus VI; it, Paolo VI; born Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini, ; 26 September 18976 August 1978) was head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City, Vatican City State from 21 June 1963 to his death in August 1978. Giuseppe De Andrea (20 April 1930 – 29 June 2016) was an Italian-born prelate of the Catholic Church who spent twenty years as a pastor in the United States and then twenty-five years in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Early years Giuseppe De Andrea was born on 20 April 1930 in Rivarolo Canavese, Italy, to Antonio and Antonietta (Marchetti) De Andrea. His elder brother is Archbishop Giovanni De Andrea. He earned his S.T.L. from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and a master's in education from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Paul-Mounged El-Hachem ( ar, بول منجد الهاشم; 8 September 1934 – 7 October 2022) was a Lebanese Maronite prelate of the Catholic Church. He worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See as apostolic nuncio to Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Yemen, and as apostolic delegate to the Arabian Peninsula. He headed the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Baalbek-Deir El Ahmar from 1995 to 2005. Biography El-Hachem was born on 8 September 1934 in Aqoura, Lebanon.
