Apostolic Nunciature To Ghana
The Apostolic Nunciature to Ghana is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Ghana. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. The position of Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana has been vacant since 19 March 2019. In 1948, the Holy See established the Delegation to Dakar led by Marcel-François Lefebvre to represent its interests in French colonial Africa. Following the decolonization of the region, the title of that position was changed to Apostolic Delegate to Western Africa on 23 September 1960 and given responsibility for Senegal, Upper Volta, Côte d'Ivoire, Dahomey (Benin), Guinea, Mauritania, Niger, Sudan, Togo, Ghana, Gambia, and Sierra Leone. André Pierre Louis Dupuy (born 13 February 1940) is a French prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1974 to 2015. Biography André Pierre Louis Dupuy was born on 13 February 1940 in Soustons, Landes. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Aire and Dax on 8 July 1972. He studied in Bordeaux, Dax and Rome, earning a doctorate in history. Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński (born 1 January 1969) is a Polish priest of the Catholic Church who has been named Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana with the rank of archbishop. Biography Henryk Jagodziński was born in Małogoszcz, Poland, on 1 January 1969. He attended the Higher Theological Seminary in Kielce. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Kielce on 3 June 1995 by Bishop Kazimierz Ryczan. He holds a degree in canon law. Jean-Marie Speich is a French prelate of the Catholic Church who has worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1986. He has been an archbishop since 2013 and Apostolic Nuncio to Slovenia and Apostolic Delegate to Kosovo since March 2019. Léon Kalenga Badikebele (17 July 1956 – 12 June 2019) was a Congolese prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He held the rank of Apostolic Nuncio beginning in 2008 and was Nuncio to Argentina from 2018 until his death in June 2019.
